thanks whit, It seems to have bounced back and I'm keeping it more wet, watering twice a day. I think i wasn't watering enough. The soil seems less compact than before , and i loosened it up a bit by scratching around in it. Not sure if i will divide it or not, but it's good to know i can. Thanks again. Michelle |
I did hear that just taking off the spent bloom does nothing but keep the plant neat....and doesn't encourage more blooms.
Ooh this is good to know. I have just been removing the spent blooms! I will start properly deadheading them from now on. |

My daughter just does the taking off the bloom only... and I tell her that is not good enough.....but hey it seems her plants always look better than mine.....I really think that fertilizer is the key for her........she is diligent in that regard.....as I am lax. I always mean well in the beginning of the season....but as time goes on.........well YOu know what I mean. I am talking containers here. Hope that petunia does well for you! Birdie <><

My neighbor was pulling spent blooms...and I had to teach her that she's gotta pull the whole dead bud... I have a lot of trouble with petunias getting leggy, and end up pinching of entire "branches" to encourage a bushier plant. Some varieties work better than others it seems...NOT having luck with the "wave" ones...I have regular petunias that trail more than them...weird! |
