I recently received a container of mums from a florist, in full bloom, in the middle of June. I don't know any details about them except that they are yellow. I don't know much about Mums but I do know they usually bloom in the fall. So anyway I want to know what I should do. I want to keep them alive but it's probably too hot to plant them,(I live in north Alabama) but I would like to keep it as a container plant if possible. Should I repot them? How long will the blooms last? Do I put them outside, in shade or sun? How can I take care of them so they will bloom again next year? Thanks. |

I don't see why you can't plant them. I have some and I was told to trim them in the spring and in again in July. Then I will have blooms in the fall. Good luck. |

Down here in zone 9, we get 3 or 4 blooms times from mums. Just plant them and water , but not too much. After they bloom, cut back to about 2" tall. They will resprout and bloom again. I fertilize once or twice a year, depending on the weather. We had a mild winter, so I will do it twice this year, spring & fall. |

before you plant the mums cut a cross on the bottom of the root ball and loosen the roots by pulling the cut sections out a little, then form a little mound in the planting hole and place the so the cut pieces straddle the mound that way you will get good root growth. Clip all the flowers off and water it well and you should see it re bloom again. LadyHawthorn so good to see pop in again ---I was missin you around here! swindyi |

I have a potted mum I neglected and left outside in the pot. It grew in to the grond so I dug it up last week and stuck it in the garden. It looks great! Flowering like crazy. I am a zone 9 and it is pretty hot right now. So if I were you I would do it! |

Thanks so much for the help, I didn't know that they would rebloom, that's great, so I will definitely plant them.
