I've been busy experimenting with tufa recipes and different molds the last few weekends. This one was made by using an old Weber kettle barbeque lid. I've planted it with succulents

Great job. And cool use of a "found mould". There are some Tufa threads here on the site with more info, plus some links on them to some other tufa threads/groups. Some of them are quite good for ideas and examples of different moulds, techniques and recipes. Good luck! And thanks for sharing!

Pretty cool! One of the nicer ones I've seen. I've hesitated to do it because they look so clunky, but yours is great! What else can you use for molds?

I have made many hypertufas and love doing them... actually last summer I had a group of my friends who were all interested in making some... they came with different shapes, molds, etc. ... they all came out good and they loved their "labor of love".... I am planning on making more ... that is as soon as the rain stops around here.... LOL

I think making the Tufas has been one of the easiest projects yet....

There is another excellent TUFA discussion group on: www.gardenweb.com specifically discussing this very topic.... from the basics of making them to the more elaborate ventures.... check that site out and I am sure you will understand and see how easy they are.... for me... it's like making mud cakes and having a wonderful outcome from doing it!!

Get more info and then get started! It's just so much fun.... I have made many as I stated ... all different shapes and sizes ... given them as birthday gifts, Christmas gifts and housewarming gifts and those Chick and hens plants just love being in them..... Good luck!

Thank you.. I was hoping to maybe sell some at some point. If this weather will ever let up. DH did get some sand 4 me, but I have been using it when mixing soil.. ") .... He'll just have to get more.. Would U use any sand or buy sand box sand ?
I will check the sight out later after work.. Giving them as gifts is a great idea. I have been doing some crafts ( I am not good at most ) I am good with 4 several yrs now and giving them as gifts at X-Mas... I always did that when I was a kid. Then went to the buying. Now I am back to making gifts.
This tufa would be great.
It would be fun , once I am comfortable with what I do.. to have a class @ my house or maybe talk with a local nursery and see if we can do something with them.... Just a thought...
Think I need (want) a little side job.....
