Could you recommend something to plant under pine trees? I am not a lover of them but they do shield us from the highway. What will grow well under them? Thanks for all replies.

My daylilies grew great under our old pine tree. They love the pine needles as mulch for their roots and they like the acid ground too.

Thanks all! I have about 4 baby hostas out there now. And along the outskirts 2 hydrangea. I have about 20-25 day lilies I can move out there this fall. And now a reason to buy MORE!!

Ron's right about the impatiens needing constant watering under pine trees. But, the results are worth it! I love my long needle pines as a backdrop for hot pink impatiens, then a few caladiums. Also, there is the Bishop's Weed around the bird bath.

Gee Thanks, Sash! But it's not me.....it just all goes together. Since I have so much shade, it turns in to a tranquil setting.

I don't know where in Ga you are, but here I have azaleas, Sweet Shrub, hosta, St. Joesphs lilly, gingers, calla lillies, cashmere bouquet, daylillies, lenton rose, shrimp plant, pussywillow, money plant, homestead verbena, assorted lillies, irises, ferns, even spider/airplant plant. Probably more I'm forgetting about. Possiblities are endless. trudy
