Put a trellis there, you mean? They're not cheap either. Especially the length and height I'd need there. More money! Waaaaaaaaa!

Why not just extend the railing to the front of the deck and plant a vine? (You still haven't explained that crooked railing.)

You could also try Plume poppies, they get very tall. If you cannot afford everything at once, the castor bean plant gets very tall too and I know there are GG folks who have seeds, 'cuz I got some. :-)

I am using them to hide the alley behind my house from view from the patio. I grow alot of stuff on a chain link fence, it's just not dense enough. It's shade under a tree and faces east too.

That side yard is pretty pathetic. No room at all. That's not a hose hookup, it's an ugly constructions of pieces of wood made to hold a canoe (that left with the canoe's owner). The fireplace rough in is under it.

I can afford plants and seeds, by the way, just not expensive labour and trellises.

Can you put your bins on the fireplace rough? Build a platform over it to put them on?

That one piece of wood, you mean? "Someone" nailed it in that way. Beats me why. But it won't extend to the end of the deck, if I'm understanding you correctly. I do have the full railing and woodwork that used to be there. I could nail that back up maybe, and have the vine climb that.

Well, it's on a slant. And the bins would be too high up then. It would also be a job to move them, they're heavy. Remember... no handy man available.

Phew! Glad we got through that! So do you like the idea of a vine?

I do. Except the railing/woodwork isn't as high as the top of the BBQ, so it wouldn't hide it all. But it would camouflage (note spelling ) most of it and the stuff under it.

If you planted anything high enough to camaflauge the entire BBQ, it would look off-balance. See post #2, Dinkle.
