I'm growing some Mr. Stripey tomatoes, along with some Goliath tomatoes. I have a few Cow Horn peppers in the ground right now, and I'm planning on planting squash, beans, and some more hot peppers, as soon as I get rid of a pesky groundhog.

I have garlic, potatoes and peas out (along with the strawberries). I am putting out corn, greenbeans, jalepenos, cantaloup, green peppers and cucumbers. Possibly some tomato plants, but not sure on them.

What are we growing this year... hummm......
• Kandy Corn ... excellent sweet corn.
• Yukon Gold 'taters ... the best!
• Tomatoes ... Cherry, Golden Peach, Early Girl & Beefsteak.
• Strawberries ... trying to grow Whoppers & Tridents in a hanging bag, should be interesting!
• Cantaloupes ... too good!
• Onions ... some Walla Walla sweets, delicious!
• Pumpkins ... Harvest Gold variety this year, don't do a lot with the fruit really, just love the look of a good healthy pumpkin plant!
• Grapes ... have a very old and large Concord grape vine in the back 40 here. Makes up a nice grape juice in the fall...
• Garlic ... just going with Elephant garlic this year, more next year after I get the raised beds set up....
That's the edible goods so far ... me thinks.

LOL, I went back and got another 4 pack of the cantaloup today because I was on the phone with my mil and they loved the few that I sent to them last year and want a bunch more this year. I guess they had never had home grown ones because my fil told me about 5 times that the ones I sent up were the best he ever tasted.

I'll echo that sentiment of your FIL ... we grew cant's last year for the first time. Wasn't sure that we could get a good result here in zone 5... they did pretty well here and was the best cantaloupe I've EVER tasted! So melt in your mouth juicey... too good!
Cant's will always be grown in my garden now!

What kind did you plant Abhoth? I'm in zone 5 and didn't think they would do good with the short growing season

Some hybrid coldset ... believe I got the seeds from Parkseed or Gurney's, hope it's o.k. to mention names. ;-) You need to get a short season variety ... here's the one we grew ... http://gurneys.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_00761

We also started them a bit early indoors but not sure that it helped much... they didn't really like the transplant. Either way, protect them.... we have some quail around here and they trashed two of our hills last year when the plants were just little guys.... chewed 'em right down to the ground.

I am in zone 5, not sure what kind I planted. I did put them out a bit late, but they had plenty of time to get ripe for me
