Anybody else do this? I think it looks pretty cool, and will even improve the soil. I laid down some black/white newspaper, then a layer of mixed leaves and pine needles....only, because I raked under my pine trees and have lots of leaves from my old english walnut trees. It makes a very attractive walkway between my flower beds. I can always freshen it up with some bought bag mulch, if I want, too. But we'll see. Now, those pine needles......no good for roses, right? |

My original flower bed is on the right. This is the start of the walkway. Today I have tons more of pine needles to spread. Rose bushes don't like pine needles do they? or do they? My new rose bushes are on the left along the walkway, and I haven't pulled out the grass or mulched yet. My new lilac is at the end of the row...look to the right, in the back. I think it's going to get too big for that spot. The tag said 10' tall and 4' wide. If all goes well, and I see this walkway flattening and looking more natural, I'll continue it to another flower bed. I have to go out and water the walkway down again....that helps.
