I have a dark green grass outline of a circle on my lawn. The rest of the lawn is not as dark. There are no pipes under the lawn, so I do not know what this is. Can anyone help me to figure this out?

How big is the circle....did you fertilize your lawn in the fall? Is the entire circle dark green, or just the perimeter?

We had that same problem with our grass, its just that the soil has more nutrients in that part, all you need to do is fertalize the lighter grass around it, let it sit for a few days, then cut it on a ragular basis.

It's just the perimeter of the circle that is much darker green!

I always thought that the darker green was the problem grass. How long have you lived there......more than one summer.........or is this your first spring, summer at that location?

We have lived in the house for 15 years, and we do not have a dog.

OOOOw, if you had watered your plants and left the house on the ground, that grass will be greener from the hose in an outline of its shape when it was layed down.

We always called them "fairy rings"...was surprised to find out someone else does, too.

Thank you very much "shinekeeper" for the information. You "hit the nail on the head". Although I do not have the mushrooms, I do have the same ring that is in the picture on the website that you sent to me. ineapple

Glad I could help...and welcome to GardenGuides.

I have seen fairy rings all my life but never knew until tonight that they were "bad"!!!
