I live in a valley just east (about 30 minutes) of San Francisco. The temps here range from 100+ in the summer to 28 in the winter ~ quite a difference from San Francisco. This has been one wet spring and my onions (red and white) are suffering. I put them out in the garden about a month ago when they were about 6-8 inches tall and now many of them are yellow and have a mildewy look. They are droopy and just not happy. I have sprayed them lightly with sulfur and am hoping that the little bit of sunshine we are having right now will help. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. |

Thank you, Kathryn, for the link. I found some good information there. It looks like the wet weather is the cause of my onion problems and I need to spray them more often with sulfur, at least until things warm up out here. Thanks, again, for your help! Happy Gardening!!! |

Bless your heart! My onions did the EXACT same thing and I found out that it indeed was the wet weather. Thank the Lord, I do have half of them that didn't stand in the water that are doing great. Hope you can salvage some of yours. |

Yellow Rose ~ Herbyann is right. It's not too late to replant some of the onions. I've been doing that and hopefully there will be enough to pull out as green onions and others to let grow large and use as dry onions. Thanks to both of you!! |
