OK..I have lots of herbs I am growing that I want to make a garden out of. Any design ideas for the following plants? Lavender, chives, chamomile and tarragon. I'll have several of each. |

Briar, you have a beautiful mix. How about a Knot Garden? You design the space and then plant the herbs in a figure eight pattern. It would look lovely. Add some of my favorites too basil and parsley. They have lots of expamles on different gardening sites of the Knot Garden but sorry I don't have the web page written in my brain or even on a piece of paper, maybe someone will have a suggestion. Place some pea-gravel in the center of the loops. |

Oh I do like the circle picture. It even looks like you have a neat design started. Why don't you do like a wheel design. Something interesting in the middle like a bird bath and then the spokes coming out of the center in a different herb. Looks wonderful already if you ask me. The figure eight thing? Well, smae area but scape as an oval. I would mark the space to outline it and then make the eight design. Certain plants could be on the exterior and then different ones criss crossing each other in the middle. Draw something out on paper first, then place the plants in the area and move things around until it looks good. Also, check some web sites out that would give you some ideas. I had this garden friend from garden.com that always did Knot Gardens and she did send me some info but I really don't know what I did with it. I know its in my old computer e-mails but that dosen't help you today. |

Hi Kat, I'm having somemajor allergy prob's at this moment but jus wanted to say. Do a search fer the herbs ye want to plant and get a feel fer the size and folage. Lavender gets big, Chives are low growing( there are Garlic chives too) Chammomile is a bit seasonal and leggy. Tarragon can be picky. I love Herbs and would really like to help you. Jus give me time to get mu allergies under control. I petted the landlady's dog in the house and had a big flair up. She's never bothered me before, but it was always outside. Later fren' |

I'm in Zone 6. In the summer, it's in the 80's and 90's. I'll take a picture of the space after the kids leave for school and post it here : ) |

Here are some pics of some space I have. The picture of the space with the Rhody's in it will be brought out about 4 feet and the area infront of the window will come out to the walkway. I may have to move my burning bush... |
