I bought a tree rose and have potted it up in a container so I can enjoy it on my patio. I am wondering if I need to overwinter it somehow. I am in zone 8b. Is it okay to just leave it outside? Should I move it to the garage? No basment here. Stick it under the balcony and mulch heavily? Bubble wrap the container? Do nothing whatsoever?!?!? LOL You can see I've been thinking about it.

Any help much appreciated. I know there are some of you who know lots about Roses, HERBY, that can help me.

Thanks Ron. It cost a bit and I didn't want to chance losing it. Hubby bought it for me for Valentine's Day.

They had a tag with the typical instructions. Nothing extra though.

Thanks again Ron. I have lots of roses, just wasn't sure about this tree rose. I will post pics when it blooms.
In my zone 6b I would have made a trench in the graden and bury the tree on it's side and cover it over with a heavy layer of mulch...thats too much work so that is why i don't have one!!!!!
this sounds like the 'Minnesota tip' trick northerners use for rose bushes.

WOW they are a lot of work. Aren't ye glad ye don't have to do that??? lol Sorry I'm late getting here. What is the name of the rose? Does it have a nice long trunk, with a round bush on top??
Tree roses have two graft's The long trunk Is grafted to the root stalk and then the rose is grafted to the top of the trunk. They can be a bit tender. How big is the container it's in. could ye send a picture of it. I can't rememb........oh yes I remember ye do post pictures. lol Had a brain cell kick in. Now you said it was a Valentine's gift and you said it was expensive. P&R, don't tell me you had a sneak peek at the bill? Do post pics like Herby said. I would enjoy seeing them too.
