have about 7 pots in the garage chilling now. the tips are about an inch to 2 inches above the soil. is this all right? about 2 more weeks and then down to the basement. does that sound right? any help welcome.

Hmmm, not sure what exactly you are asking. Are you asking if it's normal that they are growing up 2" already? I don't know much about forcing tulip bulbs, but hope someone will come along that knows more than I do.

when did you plant these...last Fall? usually forcing bulbs means 'fooling' bulbs into thinking it's Spring when it's not and having them bloom during the winter months.

i'm thinking what you're talking about is growing Spring bulbs in containers. i've planted tulips and daffs in an old whiskey barrel in the Fall and put them into my storage shed for the winter. when Spring started to arrive i took them out and put the container in the sun. nature took over and did the rest. i kept them watered when rain wasn't available and filled in around them w/annuals and ivy for a beautiful Spring container.

Since our autum was really screwed up, and my own laziness, I missed fall planting. I put my tulips in the fridge just after New Years, then about 2 weeks ago took them out and set them on the floor by the door in the mud room. I just put them into pots this week. They are all about 1-2 inch above the soil line, then I will put them in ground this when spring decides to hit. They may or may not have bloomed by then, but what the heck. hope this helps

put my pot containers in the basement under a shop light 2 weeks ago. cut my first tulip 3 days ago. all 5 pots have tulips blooming or getting ready to bloom. very happy with the results of the first time of forcing tulips indoors.

I have a daughter getting married next June, 2009. Planning a wedding shower for April 5th. I have about 300 bulbs (tulip & daffadil) that I would like to have blooming first week in April. Any tips or advice that would help me to be successful?? Thanks Bkhensley
