I'm not exactly sure. Been researchin' Tomatos. It sez it helps the plant utalize the nutrients in the soil. Maybe the same with roses. All I know fer sure is it works! LOL It's Magnesium Sulfate.

OK I have been itchin to start my summer garden, but cant so I got a rose bush. I have always wanted one. I found a great sunny place out by my veggie garden, soaked it over nite and put it in the ground. Now what?Does it need special fertilizer? Do I just wait? What about watering needs??? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanx my GG friends. |

About an inch of water per week, I use manure in May and then in August, otherwise I use a couple of tablespoons of epsom salts on a weekly basis. Hope this helps. Sass |

Hi Jenny: I have several roses in front and backyards of my home. Like stated in the other post I water during the hot summer months a little more often about 2inches a week. Water at the base of the rose. Do not use sprinklers as you will then have other problems like rust and powedery meldew. Those issues can be addressed at a different time. You will need to spray for fungus and aphids. When you start to have those problems PM me and I will let you know the chemicals to use. Every six weeks you should feed them with Ortho systemic granules. You can find this at any home improvement store. About a 1/4 cup per rose bush and then water them. (I use the cup that comes with the container, perfect for measuring) The systemic also help with aphids. I hope this helps. Let me know if you should have any other questions. I have attached a photo of a few of the roses in my yard. Also around May I use 1/4 of epsom salts at the base of the bush .... Good luck Flowers Galore |
