Hi Lovetheflowers:

I put 1/4 cup of epsom salts around the base of the rose bush. No need to dulite it. Then water it. The magnesium is nutrient that it is looking for.

I'm not exactly sure. Been researchin' Tomatos. It sez it helps the plant utalize the nutrients in the soil. Maybe the same with roses. All I know fer sure is it works! LOL It's Magnesium Sulfate.

OK I have been itchin to start my summer garden, but cant so I got a rose bush. I have always wanted one. I found a great sunny place out by my veggie garden, soaked it over nite and put it in the ground. Now what?Does it need special fertilizer? Do I just wait? What about watering needs??? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanx my GG friends.

About an inch of water per week, I use manure in May and then in August, otherwise I use a couple of tablespoons of epsom salts on a weekly basis. Hope this helps.

Hi Jenny:

I have several roses in front and backyards of my home. Like stated in the other post I water during the hot summer months a little more often about 2inches a week. Water at the base of the rose. Do not use sprinklers as you will then have other problems like rust and powedery meldew. Those issues can be addressed at a different time. You will need to spray for fungus and aphids. When you start to have those problems PM me and I will let you know the chemicals to use.

Every six weeks you should feed them with Ortho systemic granules. You can find this at any home improvement store. About a 1/4 cup per rose bush and then water them. (I use the cup that comes with the container, perfect for measuring) The systemic also help with aphids.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you should have any other questions. I have attached a photo of a few of the roses in my yard. Also around May I use 1/4 of epsom salts at the base of the bush ....

Good luck
