Can anyone tell me what size a Tsuga canadensis 'Jeddeloah' is supposed to get ? I have two catalogs that I want to order from and one says they get two feet tall and the other catalog says they get one foot tall. The reason I am wanting to know is that I think one foot is too short. I really like the sound of the two foot tall one the best for what I want them to do. I would like to hear from someone who has had one of them for a few years , but any response is welcome. I know the catalogs say they are a slow grower, but I don't mind the slow growth, but would like to know the size of them at maturity. Thanks in advance for any help you may give me.

Hi Gramps!
I dont have one, myself.... but the company that I order shrubs from has it listed as a dwarf.... and the size chart shows it at approx. 3-4 feet tall. Probably closer to the 3 feet. Hope that helps!

Debs , I think the 3' would be better. I am ordering these for my daughter and she wants something that is pretty much maintenance free, or something that does not have to be prunded every week or two to keep it looking nice. I will wait until she gets home from school today and then I must get my order in tomorrow for sure. 3-4 feet does not sound much like a dwarf to me..does it you ? Maybe the 3-4 feet would be dwarf for a tsuga tho. She has held my order up long enough tho and I am sending mine in tomorrow with or without her order. lol I am sure she will want them.

Gramps.....when referring to shrubs/trees "Nana".... "Dwarf" Does not Directly refer to total height/size...it is meant to mean...extremely SLOW growing and smaller then the "Normal"....confusing...Yes! but then many Terms in the Horticulture world can be very confusing..like in the old days...when Pot sizes were numbers at one place...gallon size references at another place..and even that didn't mean a True Gallon...LOL LOL A True Dwarf/Nana will be very slow growing AND normally be much smaller then the Normal...hope that helps.......

I think that pretty much sums it up for ya Gramps. If she's looking for something that's not going grow wild for her, this is it.

Hello Gramps,

I see you had inquired about the tsuga Jeddeloah in 2006 and wondered how it grew for you and any advice. I have been looking at this particular shrub in Wayside Gardens for several years and want to order it, though it is pricey.

Thanks,
Jenny B.
