What about some candy recipes

prettylady,,,,,,,,where in the world do you get enuff ''black walnuts'' to cook with???[lol] here,,,these wonderful tasting lil goodies are like trying to crack a cannonball........although i have seen them in the stores this year...at abt $8.00 a lb...my granma made a mouth watering cake, when i was a kid ,with black walnuts.i think we started in july to get enuff picked out by christmas!!!

Yummy Peggy, I have tried making this numerous times and it never comes out right, my grammie used to make it for me all the time....I even tried with her help and mine just never came out good....

Sedum I gather them every fall and put them in my neighbors driveway then I crack them~~I have access to 3 large black walnut trees in my yard and the neighbors. I have already cracked 2 gallon bags full of black walnuts. Yup my fingers stained as can be. Have done this every year since I was a pup. I have gone out and gathered pecans, hickory nuts. I gather enough for the squirrels too.

[U]Millionaries[/U]

1 pkg. caramels
3 T water
2 c. chopped pecans
1/3 block paraffin
1 lg. Hershey chocolate bar

[U]Preparation[/U]

Melt caramels in double boiler.
Stir in pecans
Drop form teaspoon onto buttered waxed or parchment paper
Refrigerate 'till firm enough to remove from paper
Melt paraffin and chocolate in top of doubler boiler
Dip cand mixture, a few pieces at a time in chocolate
Place on buttered waxed or parcment paper
Do no refrigerate.

1 c. brown sugar
1 c sugar
1/2 c evaporated milk
1/2 c powdered sugar
1 1/2 c chopped pecans

[U]Preparation[/U]

Combine first [U]4[/U] ingredients in sauce pan
Cook to soft-ball stage withour stirring
Cool to room temp
Turn onto board sprinkled with powdered sugar
knead until firm
Shape in roll
Coat with pecans.

yummy recipes everyone, i don't make candy for the holidays but do bake alot, made 24 mini loaves of banana bread, 3 batches of no bake cookies, 4 batches of peanut butter kiss cookies, and 5 batches of choc chip yesterday, today i have to make 2 batches of momcat's pumpkin bread and 3 batches of snickerdoodles and some peanut butter no bake cookies... also got to make 2 batches of vinni's spinach dip for christmas presents and parties, got to go to the store today as i'm running out of eggs, flour and oatmeal.... anybody want to come help me

YUMMY I always buy one of these when I'm down south as they don't sell them around here...

[U]Peanut Butter Fudge[/U]

2 c sugar
3/4 c milk
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup peanut butter
2 tsp vanilla

Boil sugar & milk without stirring (234) 'till mixture forms a soft ball.
Remove from heat. Cool slightly. Add peanut butter and vnilla. Beat 'till it loses its gloss. Spread in buttered pan or dish. When hardened mark squares and cut.

Laurie on the divinity~~the only time mine doesn't turn out is when its raining outside. I know this sounds weird but this is true.

grammie said it was cause her eggs where never in the frig and they were fresh, but i know other ppl that have made it with store boughten eggs and it came out fine, willl have to try it again someday.......
