I was asked by a local garden shop to make some basic container stands. This is what I came up with. I also am considering making something like this diagram (sorry it is so crude) to just set the container on top of: Can you think of (and post a picture) other simple yet desirable stands? For myself these will be helpful to keep my pots from killing the grass where I set them. Also might keep ants from making their home up in the pot as the drain hole won't be right against the ground. |

I would prefer to have stands similar to your diagram, perhaps with a bit of a lip to them to keep the pots somewhat more stable. Even a wide circular band of steel welded to the base would be good. Make some with little spiked "feet" that can be poked into the ground (like tent pegs) for pots on the lawn. For stands that will be used on patios and decks, solid round metal orbs welded on as feet are simple and effective. I will try to find the sketches I made for hubby (he is going to weld up a few for me over the winter) and post them so you will understand what I am rambling on about. |

I like what you've done. And what I think Daisy's trying to describe too. The lip around the edge would also give it more stability/rigidity. |

I follow you. I can do the round feet. Bending true circles out of flat stock is easy to some, not so easy to others (like me!). There is a special bender I could buy but I'm not ready for that yet. Good input though - I'll try to think of a creative way to achieve the same design concept! |

Wasabi, what if you were to create something that looked like the pot was being held by the petals of a flower? Or a vine? |

Daisy that would look so "gardenish" (for lack of a better word, the kids Christmas music is frying my brain), if the "lip" was a vine!!!! |
