First off, I'm sure there are viewers/readers under the age of 18 and many other individuals that are anti-tobacco or have unfortunately lost a love one to its usage. I am not here to endorse or criticize the product..just curious. Suppose I am possibly posting this in the wrong section of GG, could be an annual I guess.
I'll be honest. I smoke cigars in moderation. I want to grow tobacco. Don't get me wrong. I have no illusions that the seeds I may grow will produce high quality tobacco for any type of use, also very doubtful that I'd attempt to cure it or even smoke it. IMO tobacco plants are a beautiful ornamental addition to a garden and act as a great natural insecticide.
Anyone here ever try to grow it? I'm pretty far north..but I'm a cheater . Any recommendations of cultivars? Any information of any kind is much appreciated. Just doing this out of curiosity.

I wondered why you never see it in a home garden. I've never seen seeds or plants for that type of tobacco. Has anyone?

There probably is a law against it. lol There are laws about brewing beer and wine at home. You are only allowed to brew a certain number of gallons per year, I believe.

No you can grow it as long the crop is under one acre..after that Uncle Sam needs to have a chat with ya . I'm not sure but there probably are some local laws that prohibit growing it here and there around the country. Pretty sure most law enforcement officials are more concerned with another type of smoking related product....if you know what I mean Seeds are available from a variety of catalogs and just like everything else come with a wide array of prices, tastes, zone hardiness..etc.

Thanks prettylady...now hurry up!!! You only have till next May to help!!!

Doesn't the flowering Nicotiana sp. like alata and sylvestris work as natural pesticide?
