Those are pretty, Kat. I found that they are Salvia patens. I can't find a zone for them, only that they are a half-hardy perennial grown as an annual (but where it doesn't specify). Do they come back for you, or do you grow them as an annual? |

Just wanted to pop in and say that my friend has an all blue garden and it's breathtaking. She doesn't combine any other color. You don't need to. There are so many different shades of blue that it can stand alone. I never would have thought to do it myself..but darn if it doesn't look nice. I'll take a peek and see what she exactly has. I know she has lupines, bluebells, dusty miller, gas plant (kind of pinkish more than blue but it's along the same pallete) blue pansys, blue iris, blue phlox, coneflowers, aster, butterfly blue scabiosa, bellflowers I know she has some annuals in there to. Good luck and post pics! |

Give evolvulus "Blue Daze" and periwinkle blue Labelia a try. They are both good in the "heat" of the summer and a nice "true" blue color. |

I also already have Glory-of-the-Snow (Chionodoxa luciliae) http://www.tba.ee/Uudised/100-0012_IMG_2a_Chion odoxa_luciliae_Caerulea.jpg and Grecian Windflower (Anemone blanda) http://www.rz.uni-karlsruhe.de/~db50/FOTO_-_Arc hiv/Anemone%20blanda_2.jpg Both are spring flowering bulbs. |

Some groundcovers : Ceratostigma plumbaginoides - gorgeous burgundy fall color while it has bright blue blooms . Gentiana septemfida var. lageodechiana The gentian I just got and love it - just love it . The plumbago I am getting this coming week. A beautiful annual (for me) is Salvia guarantica 'Black and Blue' Gorgeous cobalt blue blooms with black calyx and bright bright green foliage. I absolutely love it - gorgeous gorgeous. Sunny Border Blue Veronica - now I just planted this one in my garden - having a bit of difficulty with the foliage part. Still up in the air as to how well it does for me. Now Phlox panniculata 'Blue Paradise' is gorgeous - but to me it is more purple toned than blue. Peggy ( prettylady) has a picture of a beautiful blue blue clematis in the general flower discussions - I am thinking it is either Will Goodwin or H.F. Young. For Spring bulbs, muscari comes in several shades of blue. As I think of more,I'll add to the list
