Well as I have the seeds already, I'm going to try! I'm not really worried about them being invasive as there's plenty of space but I think I may well buy a few half grown ones as well ... as usual, I'm in a hurry! Thanks for your help. Gigi |

Hello welcome to the boards. I am located in West Central Indiana Zone 5b. Pampas grass is an annual here. I tried growing it from seed last year an I had grass. The problem large blades of grass but no plumes. It grew small seed heads low to the ground. It looked fine, but not what I wanted my pampas to look like. I would suggest you buy your pampas grass from your local nursery or order it through a mail order catalog.

gigiola, i did some research online and this is what i found. growing pampas from seed wasn't recommended as it would probably be a variety that spreads by reseeding and could become invasive. i'm assuming you're probably in zone 6 there in Indiana. if you do try to start these from seed make sure they are a variety hardy in your zone as it takes at least 3-5 years to reach bloom size. sometimes it may take longer. |

Oooooooookay .. first post! I "won" four packs of pampas grass seeds on Ebay. 4 different colours. Now .. can I start them indoors? I'm way too impatient to wait until late spring! |
