What a day this has been
What a rare mood Im in
Why, its almost like being in love
Theres a smile on my face
For the whole human race
Why, its almost like being in love
All the music of life seems to be
Like a bell that is ringing for me
And from the way that I feel
When that bell starts to peal
I would swear I was falling
I could swear I was falling
Its almost like being in love
Yes that is what Gardening is to me. Almost like being in love. I spent the day OUTSIDE. First I mowed the front yard full of weeds and winter grass. I looks nice even if it is not what a lawn should be.
Then I got started on the White Garden Bed. Dug out about 5 plants and got them moved to other areas. And in doing so I got a little weeding done in each spot. Things are looking up in the new bed. Will take the rest of the week to really get it done.
My son had an 18 ft swimming pool installed today. There was an old pink dogwood right where the pool was to go. It had to be knocked down, literally as they used some type of small tractor and just gave it a push. So I went up and took some branches, brought them home and did some cuttings. In 6 pots I put small cuttings and used rootone on them. I made other cuttings and placed them in the ground in a shady spot using rootone again. I wasn't through and decided to take a bit larger cuttings and just placed them in a good area where the mulch has made a nice impromptu bed. Who knows one or two of them just might develop into a beautiful pink dogwood. My son did inquire as to whether it could be moved. He decided it wasn't worth the price and the big hole it would have made to have it moved.
At that point in the day (having taken an hour for lunch) it was about 5pm and I was dirty, a bit smelly and greatly tired. Came in and got that wonderful hot shower. Fixed DH and myself a salad and chilled for a bit.
My sister and her DH are coming in tomorrow evening just for the night, so I will have to get their bed ready and clean up the ever dirty bathroom. Are those rooms ever really clean? Maybe for an hour until someone steps inside. Cleaning house is a lot like my gardens, they are never finished. Dust? just gets picked up and somehow finds its way right back on top of all the furniture. Sometimes I think of that saying "dust to dust", do you suppose we really begin that process the moment we are born and that is where the dust comes from? It has to come off of something.
It is always so tempting to go to all paper plates and take out, like you see people do on TV programs. They never cook but they never look like they are suffering any. Then on trash day all that would get picked up and if you timed it right, your kitchen would be spotless. And I like a clean kitchen, might have to go next door to see a clean kitchen with the dishes done and the counters all shiny and bright. Seems like the evening I do get the kitchen all nicely polished, someone has to put that last glass or bowl from ice cream IN THE SINK. IIIIIIIIEEEEE. Does that just bite!!
Dancing with the stars is on now and I have the VCR taping it, but I will go watch the end to see who gets booted off. This has been an odd year and Len has been extra grumpy. They have been so hard on little Marissa and I don't think that is fair. So she has a Tony and does broadway, that doesn't make her a professional ballroom dancer. Everyone is trying so hard and it is fun to see them improve as the weeks go by.
OK Bill, did you make it all the way down here?
More To Come Later
