new ballgame in the weather category. Snowed so pretty, we got at least 3 inches but it is in the process of melting now. Forecast at a40 degrees today and 47 for tomorrow. Wonder if this is the last of it?
There are more photos in my album Snow 2010
Was nice to see the snow. When I was outside last evening taking pictures I was remembering wonderful walks in snow just like this one. It was coming down so softy and just enough to cover you slowly. The night sky was so lit up, I had forgotten that aspect of a snow front. This one was state wide and I think that is the reason. When it is just in some places you don't get that beautiful lit up night sky. Hope all of you enjoyed your bit of true winter and I am praying this will do it for the year. After all the first day of spring is on March 20th this year in only 5 weeks. :-D
to start the morning. There was a fire three doors up from me. 3 big fire trucks, 2 small fire vehicles, at least 4 police cars to block both ends of the street. I think that is a rental house and a large family lived there, did not know them however.
At first I thought it was a fire drill for the school just across the street but when no kids came out I went to the porch to get a better view. Could smell the smoke but there was not a huge amount of activity so I felt sure the whole house was not burning. My next door neighbor said the fire was in the back of the house.
Here is something beautiful to look at: a rose from the yellow knock out rose. This plant is up against the house and really looks good, I am eager to see it begin to bloom this year. Enjoy
The Greater Backyard Bird Count starts on Friday (the 12th) and I wish it started to day. The Robins and some others are all over the front yard. My hubby can see them from his window and has enjoyed this morning. The weather is a bit cold at a humid 44 degrees and there are intermittent showers. In fact I saw a lady get into her car across the street and she no sooner got in and started up the street when there was a five minute down pour. She would have been soaked had that one caught her.
HOORAY I got the taxes done this morning and Uncle Sam will be contributing to my meager income. It can't come at a better time. We may actually NOT go into a hole paying for our medicines for the next few months anyway.
I found a few crocus blooming last week. Must plant more of them. It would be great to see them coming up in the lawn areas much like the Ipheion (though they can take over) Well that might not be so bad you wouldn't ever have to mow. Of course with both these plants they die back after they bloom. So not so good an idea.
After a visit to my favorite garden shop I have decided Pansies need to grow and bloom all year around. My lawn would be full and beautiful. When you look over the many tables of Pansies it just brings joy to your heart. No didn't go to buy just to look around to see what was green all year, what bloomed this time of year and to smell the Pansies. The Camellias Japonica and Sasanqua were blooming in pots most about three feet tall.
My hubby was proud of his shave and haircut and asked me to take his picture. He is not bound to the bed but prefers the bed over his lift recliner. He has mobility problems and dementia. I treasure every bit of joy we can share.
This is a photo of him at his old school Reunion. Lodge is really in the country and the school held all grades. He enjoyed standing up there telling a few stories of his frends and the school. This was October of 2008.
This is a picture from our trip to Lake City in April 2009.
brings out the yarn in my house. I completed this little girls poncho yesterday. I had started some mittens but that pattern needed more concentration than I could give it right now. The lily yarn free pattern had them in bright colors, but this was all the cotton yarn I had. Bet it would look good in some of those fancy yarns. Enjoy.
