Now that it's a little easier to get Hubby on the porch, we have really been enjoying watching the hummers. They are still here. I have two patches of pineapple sage and the hummers are working them a lot. I hate to see them leave, but I'm sure it won't be long before they will be gone.

Most of my flower beds have dried up and look horrible since I haven't been able to do much outside. Taking care of Hubby takes all my time. I have noticed that the pineapple sages are blooming! I had kept them cut back earlier in the summer, so they aren't 10 feet tall this year. They look pretty good. I wonder what they would have looked like if they had gotten some rain or water in the last few months. The zinnias are doing their thing. They don't seem to mind neglect as well as some marigolds. The begonias in pots around the yard look pretty good, too. A few coleus are still showing some color. All of them didn't die but quite a few did. What was really a thrill was I looked out the kitchen window the other day and saw a rusty red spot in the dry devastation that is the Rock Garden. I couldn't figure out what it was, and then it dawned on me. A spider lily! I ran outside to see. YAY! Last summer Son and I had dug up a lot of bulbs from my mom's lawn, and I planted them in the Rock Garden, Aunt Winnie's Garden, and the New Daffodil Bed. So far there are only two. The one in the Rock Garden and one in Aunt Winnie's Garden. If they had gotten some rain, I'm sure they all would have bloomed, but I'm a so happy that I have those two. It was like Mom stopping by to say hello. What a lovely surprise.
I haven't had many opportunities to enjoy Garden Guides for the past month. It seems the moment I get on the pooter, Hubby needs something. I have been coming in early in the mornings before he gets up and deleting a few spammers and spammers' blogs and trying to take a quick look at your blogs and pictures. I also haven't had any opportunities to work in the yard. We didn't have any rain for a month and the other day we had 1.8 inches. It was a little late since most things were already burned up. I can get Hubby out on the porch for a few minutes, but it's not long enough for me to get any yard work done. The most fun I've had is deleting spammers and ridding myself of some frustrations. What satisfaction!
