My new maple tree.
Jun 15, 2008 | 9:05 AM PST
Well, my new maple tree has been planted. It was a housewarming gift from my son-in-law's parents and they were so smart to wait until all the construction in my yard was complete before they decided what they were going to get. My son-in-law is in the landscaping business and his supplier had a really nice specimen. My daughter and he came by yesterday to plant it. I put pictures in my photo album. He set it in a bare corner of the back yard and it will provide shade and screen for the deck. He is so clever. I had planned to put daylilies in that corner but I can always put the daylilies in another spot, there's plenty of other sunny spots. Some pretty impatients would be nice with my tree.

Tag: rain in my garden
I am so glad it is June. We had an afternoon rain shower yesterday afternoon that left everything in my yard nice and wet. My marigolds were trying to break out of their pot last night. I will have to restrain them tonight. We should keep having that kind of rain almost every afternoon for a while. I also got my new ladder yesterday. I bought a Little Giant with accessories, so I will never need another ladder in my lifetime. I was so glad I didn't have to water last night. It gave me time to do some straightening up for my party Saturday. I'm having my open house/deck christening party for friends and relatives. Most have not seen the house and some have seen some of the earlier pictures. I have been in the house a full 6 months already and I can't believe the amount of work I have done. There is still so much I want to work on but I'm at the point where I will be taking my time with my projects. No more rushing for this gal. It will all be done at my own pace.
