So, on the way to a shopping outing with my mom yesterday, My car just veered into the nursery! How did that happen??? Well, they had all their mums on sale. I love that mums are perennial, but are sold as annuals. Several years ago, I made a habit of buying discounted mums and had such a nice show of color with them every year. Those have since gone and I decided this year - it is time to start that again. So, I picked up 3 small yellow ones for only $1 a piece and 1 HUGE white one for $2.50. It will be fun to see if they come back next year.
m> I also captured this pict while I was out in the front...Japanese Maple in its fall glory
I think I may have to check the other nursery tomorrow to see what else is on sale!
This week we are finally supposed to have a break from the over 100 heat. Back into the 90's, so that means...back to the garden! I have missed it!!!! I am really looking forward to fall and thinking of all my projects and plantings. I just took a part time job so I will have less time, but I'm sure I will manage as I tend not to sit still well :)
They were talking on the radio this morning about how the heat and drought might affect the fall color we get here. They said the leaves may just start dropping instead of changing colors :( I hadn't even considered that would happen!
Projects for Fall:
Redo Hosta Bed : I will dig up everything, add compost, berm up slightly and replant
At first I was kinda annoyed because I was in the middle of weeding, but after a nano second, I thanked the heavens and moved inside for the virtual gardening world.
I've been working on those pesky little summer weeds in the back....my next BIG project is to clear the overgrowth behind our back fence. There is a creek back there somewhere and god only know what else...
Already starting to think about my garden in the fall too. THink I might plant some brightly colored mums along the back path. Also want to plant a bunch of bulbs. Fun, Fun!
