I went to the nursery again today.I am so excited about my new garden space I can't even sleep at night.I bought another" emerald "arborvitae(that makes 3) 3 burning bushes,1 bird nest spruce, a pee gee hydrangea tree, a flat of pink impatiens, and some asparagus ferns.I 'll put them in the ground tomorrow after PT if it isn't raining.I,ve already dug the holes,so it's just a matter of putting them in.I really would like to get 3 small pine trees and a couple more forsythia....Of course we'll be in the poor house and I won't get to enjoy my new garden....
My daughter invited us for dinner tonight. She's giving me an old iron garden bench ,it needs a new coat of paint.I have 2 chairs that will match after painting them all.I,m always on the look out for garden stuff I can repaint or fix.The older the better....
The weather man has been predicting storma for the past couple of days.We have only gotten a few light showers. Not enough for sure.We need rain badly....This has been a very dry spring here...
I'll get somes shots of my new garden when I'm finished.Later,Sandy

I thought you all might like to see pics of where I spend a lot of time. It's a 10x16 potting shed/playhouse.The grandkids love the loft.I put tiny wicker chairs,a lamp and lots of books up there for them. They come and keep me company while I pot up plants. There is electric in it so they can even play out there at night. This is my get a way(not really, the little ones are always in there too.) I love being able to have a place of my own. It's filled with garden stuff, old signs, all my collections. My husband thinks it's just junk. What does he know,it's treasures to me....
Today is Earth Day and my birthday! I am 63 years old.I thank God for the wonderful life I've had.I hope for many more years...I worked outside all day spreading mulch.I hired a landscape company to do some of the beds, but I needed more mulch for the beds I said I wasn't going to mulch.Happens every year.I spread about 3 cubic yards and have 3 more to go.Looks like it won't be enough though.I think I'll have to order a few more yards next week,I promised my husband I'll stop working outside at 4:00 pm everyday.Last year I stayed out until dark digging and planting. I'm sure you all do the same thing. It's just so much fun....
I starting planting shrubs and flowers in my new space where the chicken coop used to be.My husband said it looks like a cemetery.Maybe I'll make the area with more of a curve instead of a long rectangle. It does look like it should have tombstones in it.I think once the shrubs grow it will look better....Tomorrow I'm off to the nursery for more shrubs,So far I've planted a forsythia,a snowball viburnum, 3 lilac bushes,3 tall arborvitaes,6 purple barberry shrubs, and transplanted lots of daylilies, sweet woodruff, forget me knots, creeping thyme, coneflowers ,hostas and lambsears .The area is part sun and part shade.... I need 3 more flowering shrubs(I've already dug the holes) and clematis for an arbor.Maybe I'll get a silver lace vine,I love those....I always cram the beds full of plants,I want instant gratification.I can't wait years for them to fill in.I want the area to look like it's been here for years.Of course that means I'll need to thin them out in a couple of years....The soil is really good(the chicken run was a good place to put in a new garden)
Next week the Amish guys will be starting to build the new barn.I'll try to g a few pics if I can. They'll just let me get the pics of their backs,no face shots.,I will certainly respect their wishes.I'll post them as soon as I can. It's going to be a small barn, only 24X 32....We went up to Chesterville to talk to the men that will be building it.They don't have computers or phones,so we had to talk in person(just like the good ol days)They are the most honest, hard working people I've ever seen. They have drivers that will bring them here and then take them home.My son in law uses Amish to do the framing and siding for his building business. They built our home, sided it and made all the cupboards in the house. They live such different lives than the English(thats what they call us)..
Well, I'm exhausted.Take care and post lots of pics of your gardens.I love to see them.....Later, Sandy

Thanks ,I'm looking forward to all ideas.I'll post pics after the area is finished.Right now I have straw bales to move and compost to dig in .....Can't wait to hear your thoughts.....Later,Sandy

We just returned home on Tuesday from our travel trailer trip to Hilton Head,SC.We had a wonderful time, but it's good to be home.It was as warm here in Ohio as it was in SC.Everything is starting to bloom and my husband cut the grass yesterday.Today it's very chilly but the rain we had last night really brought out the buds on the trees and the peepers are peeping loudly. The weatherman predicts warm weather for the week-end.I can't wait to get my hands in the dirt.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. We went to a "sunrise" Easter service on the beach. There were probably 200 people that attended. It was a beautiful service...This is the first Easter we've ever been away from our kids and grandkids.I really missed them.
