Well my friends, the holiday rush is over.Another Christmas past....It was great having family and friends together .But,now it's back to a routine.I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and all your Christmas wishes came true.....
I was waited on hand and foot on Christmas Day.My family was great, especially my dear husband.I am so thankful for him.Monday,I get the hard cast on my leg,it's really hard to get around now.We did rent a scooter(you put your knee on it and scoot yourself around with the ( good) leg. It's a lot easier than crutches.I opted out of the surgery(the dr wanted to put a plate in my ankle)It's broken in a spiral up the fibula.I'm afraid of surgery. It will heal without it,but slower.I'll just have to tough it out. It's going to be a boring winter.....
Here are the pics I said I'd post of the costumes I made for the little grandkids. They weren't too thrilled to have to wear them as you can see in the pics....This might be the last time I can bribe them into this silly stuff....I had fun tho....It was very amusing.
Also, here are some pics of the little dog we got from a rescue group. He is so good,he settled right in like he has always lived with us.All he wants to do is sit on my lap and stare at me.Thats good now that I can't move around real well. I have to give my chickens away.My son in law has a friend who says he'll take them.I feel so bad, they are my pets.I hope he takes good care of them.I just have to get my mind off of them...My husband can't care for them, their coop is located too far from the house.I'm afraid he'll fall on the ice and break something like I did, then we'd really be in trouble....He had a knee replaced a few years ago and his other knee is bad and needs replaced before long. It's not worth taking a chance going out and risking a fall....
It's a beautiful day.The sun is shining, but it's very windy and cold.I hope the weather stays good thru Monday.I go for the hard cast then.Crutches are a real trick on ice and snow.....
I need company, please e- me whenever you can.I am bored already,I have about 8 more weeks to be laid up.I need some laughter and silliness this long winter....Help!
I promised to post pics and tell you all about our new rescue dog.The good news is we adopted him on Saturday morning and he's the best dog I've ever seen.He knows commands, does a few tricks,is totally housebroken and is calm(not a yappy little dog)He only weighs about 7 lbs(smaller than I thought he'd be and sleeps on our laps all the time.Could I ask for anything better? He just needs some teeth pulled,he's 3yrs old and a pure joy....
Now for the bad news. When I was putting the chickens in their coop for the night,I slipped on snow and ice and fell breaking my ankle. It was very painful.I heard it snap when it broke, like a stick breaking.I couldn't get back to the house and had to crawl on my knees all the way back to the driveway,Luckily my daughter looked out and saw me.I was cold and wet,I was out there about 15 minutes yelling for help.I saw I wasn't going to get any,so it was crawl or wait till my husband missed me,that might have been quite awhile(ha,ha)My daughter and son in law ran over and picked me up,thank God.My husband took me to the emergency room and they put me in a soft cast until the swelling goes down and then a hard cast sometime this week.I think I can get in on Monday.I'm on crutches now and am so off balance.Crutches are hard to use...Thank goodness we didn't get a puppy!I couldn't have coped with it now.An older trained dog is perfect....Can't wait for you all to see his picture...
Merry Christmas to all my friends on G.G. and best wishes for a Happy New Year, Sandy
P.S. 6 weeks is a long time to be out of commision,I'll be on this site so much you'll be thinking,"Oh no,not her again!"

Well,we were approved to get the little dog.We are so excited. We pick him up on Saturday morning. The first thing we have to do for him is get dental care.He has bad teeth...I hope he's not in too much pain.Oh, another dog, what fun....Will post pics soon as we get him.... He only weighs 10 pounds. He's a 3 yr old pom......
I haven't been on GG for a few days.I've been busy trying to adopt a rescue dog.He was at a puppy mill and used for a stud.He was never out of a cage and was treated terrible. He is a ten pound pomeraniun .He is so sweet and loving. We are going thru the adoption process now. There are 2 other families on the waiting list to adopt him.I hope they pick us,we would love him to death.Ohio is one of the largest puppy mill areas in the U.S. Most of the mills are Amish up in Holmes County. It makes me sick to see what these poor animals go thru,no love, care, they breed the females to death.I am such an animal lover,I wish I could adopt them all.....The poor little guy has bad teeth and he's only 3 yrs old.He weighs 10 lbs and is as cute as can be.If we get him I'll post his pic,his name is Jay,Jay.I guess we jumped the gun today. We bought him a bed and toys.I'll be so disapointed if we don't get him.Keep your fingers crossed for us....I'll keep you posted.
It's so cold and blustery today. I just want to stay inside and read. The sun is shining brightly, but it's deceiving. It's really, really ,really, cold! My 4 yr old grandson is here with us while my daughter finishes up her Christmas shopping.I tried his elf costume on him and it fits perfect.I just have some trim to sew on it and I'm done.I'm taking advantage of having fun with the little ones before they get too old for this silly stuff (dressing them up for Christmas photo's) I'll probably only be able to torture them a couple of more years....They look so darn cute dressed as elves ,Santa and the reindeer.I 'll hopefully be able to get them all together this week-end.It will be a real trick trying to get the 9 month old to stand still for pictures.
I went out today and broke a big hole in the ice on the pond for our duck"Ducky"She didn't have a place to swim. She 's happy now... She and our Lab"Ruby" were laying side by side together by the pond this morning .We call them the "odd" couple"They're best friends....
I really want some snow! It's just not Christmas without snow....Here's hoping we get some soon...
What weather! Today the wind was 55 MPH,Christmas decorations were blowing all over the place. We went out to lunch and limbs were down in the road so we didn't go anywhere else.We came back home,it was dangerous to be on the roads.I came back and started making costumes for my grandkids for Christmas cards.I made a santa suit,a reindeer and two elves. They turned out really cute.I'll post pics(or maybe BSmitch will) I'll try to get pics of them in costume this week-end....
I winterized the chicken coop last week-end.Straw bales all around the outside of coop, straw inside and 250 watt red heat bulb over their roost. When I went out to close them in for the night they were all snuggled up together nice and cozy on their roost.. .They weren't real crazy about the high wind and spent most of the day inside....
Tomorrow I'm taking my older sister for laser surgery on her eyes.I sure hope the weather cooperates.I hate driving on icy country roads.Actually, any icy road....Her appointment isn't until 2:00PM so I'm sure the roads will be alright by then.
My husband and I got our H1N1 shot last week. There is no problem now getting one.We didn't even have to wait in a long line.We were in and out in 10 minutes.
We went with our kids and grandkids to see Santa last night. They took their dog too.Got a cute family photo. It was pouring down rain,so it wasn't real Christmasy to say the least. We got drenched coming and going to the car.....The little ones didn't mind though, seeing Santa was all they cared about.
Hope you all are safe and warm,be careful on the roads. Sandy

Today was our little home town Christmas parade. It turned out really well.Girl scouts, high school band ,floats ,and horses pulling Santa around the square. My little grand daughter was also in the parade with her dance troupe. It was fun,but chilly.I love small town USA.Sunbury ,Ohio is the best...Hope I can post pics, bear with me.
