You all probably have been wondering why I go by "Sunburychick" on G.G.,it's certainly not because I consider myself a young chick. It's because I have chickens and I live in Sunbury,Ohio.I guess I could have used "Old Hen",but that sounds like I would be a mean old Biddy.Which I am not,I'm a nice old biddy! Well, here I go rambling again....Hope you all enjoy your day.........Later,Sandy
What a beautiful, fall, day. The sun was shining, the temp was around 69 degrees and the sky was azure blue.I did some raking and clean-up in the gardens.Cleaned the chicken coop and run and put straw on the strawberry patch.Dave cut down the plants in the beds around the pond.I'm not cutting back a couple of my gardens till spring.I want some of the plants to self seed.
I really enjoyed myself today.I took time to just sit and take in the view,I even did some fishing. These days won't last much longer....
The grandchildren played in the leaf pile jumping and laughing.I just loved watching them.Oh,to be a kid again....
Have you all heard that our friend from China,XiaoYu,got married! He is married by law,but there will be an up coming marriage ceremony in the near future..How exciting,I hope he posts lots of pictures.....Congrats to XiaoYu!
I am so thrilled that I can use G.G. again....I 've been lost without it.....Check out the Halloween album, more pics to come.....

I am so happy,I think I can post again, hurray!I felt so left out not being able to comment or post pics.Thank you ''Trinity" and Bill, and all that tried to help me. The Halloween party was a great success.over 200 adults and children attended. The haunted hayride was .the big hit..It was a real fun night. The kids loved the hayloft and games .We had a big table set up with crafts,Halloween activities'tootsie roll in the hay game, corn hole,a big inflatable jumpy thing for them to jump in,costume contest for kids and adults,The hayride went good too.the little ones got to take the first two rides, before it got dark(it wasn't scary But after dark,we went on the haunted hayride thru the woods down to the cemetery(Check out my album....More pics to come, daughter had taken more thruout the evening......sandy

I want to post pics of the Halloween Party on here Sunday.I still can't even put them in my album.I'll keep trying. When I go to my album I can post up to 4 files, then I can't get any farther. It won't let me scroll down or anything.I can't enlarge either...the photo thingy just freezes. All I can do is exit....
I can't believe what happened today.I was working in my potting shed and sat down to take a break.Unfortunately, there was a hornet on the chair(it was a webbed type chair)and it stung me right thru my jeans.Man,did that hurt! It still hurts and that was around noon .The little grand-kids were in the loft and thought it was hysterical to see Granny screaming and jumping around.... I would have been laughing too if it had been someone else. A bee sting on the rear-end is not an ideal spot to get stung.....
Oh no,the ritual is starting! We are sitting in front of the t.v. eating our dinner. It's getting dark earlier and we go to bed much earlier than we normally do.We are even watching "Jeopardy" every evening. We're pathetic!
I baby-sat for my 7 month old grandson yesterday and today. He was so sick.My daughter in law took him to the pediatrician today. The little guy has double ear infections. He has had 5 since July.He 's constantly on antibiotics. He's going to a specialist and have tubes put in on the 20th of this month.I feel so bad for him.I hate it when the little ones are sick...
Tomorrow is barn cleaning day.The Halloween party is on the 24th,and that place is dirty. The grand-kids are really anxious to start decorating,so tomorrow, after the kids baseball and soccer games,we can get going.
Today I stopped at Meijer's and got 6 perennials for 50 cents a piece. They were getting rid of the last of the plants.Three were "Midnight Salvia" and the other three were" Golden Rod".They had new growth on them so I cut them back and planted them.I picked up some pumpkins while I was there too.I put them in my window boxes with mums .It looks so pretty and colorful,I 'll leave them in thru Thanksgiving .
I still haven't gotten the scarecrows made,I did buy some scary ghouls to hang in the trees for the haunted hayride. We'll shine some lights up on them so the effect will be scarier. We're making a cemetery with bones on top of the graves and will put a fog machine in to make it more like a horror movie.Every year we set up a dummy in the upstairs window with an uplight on it.She's dressed all in black(like the mother in Psycho) and she's sitting in a rocking chair, her face is a skull .We tell the kids on the hayride that it's" Old Lady Blazer"It scares the wits out of them."Old Man Blazer 's grave is in the cemetery. His tombstone reads,"I told you I was sick!"The haunted hayride goes through the back of our property and down the old railroad bed(they never put tracks on it)down the hill, thru a field, thru a row of old pines, and back up to the barn. It's a pretty good ride...
Today I finally got around to cleaning my potting shed,it was a mess.I need to get all my tools cleaned up and hung back on the wall, right now half the stuff is laying out in the garden.I did cut back a few plants and took them to the compost pile. The chickens love to scratch around in it.A hawk has been eyeing my girls the past few days. They make a mad dash for the coop whenever they see it's shadow.Their chicken run has fishing line strung back and forth across the top of the fence. It's impossible for a hawk to swoop down and grab a chicken,he'd be tangled in the line if he did.
My son in law took down a couple of trees for us this evening after he came home from work. The emerald ash borrow has killed quite a few of our ash trees.Eventually, the rest will die too.But for now,we'll get the ones that are totally dead.Luckily,we have some beautiful maples so it won;t look bare after the ash trees are gone.We have 11 ,7ft white pines being delivered and planted this week.We have a lot of spruce trees on our property.I love pine trees though, they are softer and I think prettier.
