The local nurseries are getting in on the spring fever, too. Woodley's and Wingard's are both having spring fling events on Saturday and the timing between their seminars is so that I can get to one place in the morning and the other in the afternoon. I'll get 3 different seminars in one day. I spent part of the evening yesterday calculating what spending money I'll have available because I know I won't be leaving either place without something in tow.

We've been tracking the arrival of the purple martins for 9 years and just yesterday I was worried because we hadn't seen a scout. According to my records they have always arrived in mid-late February. This morning when I was watering my peas and such, out of the corner of my eye I saw a gourd start swinging. I didn't see a martin, but I told my husband to keep an eye out. By the time I got to work he called and said "we have martins". It's going to be a beautiful weekend for working in the yard and garden. The martins will be welcome company!
