Howdy all! The sun is shining and it got up into the 80's......I'm so glad to have a taste of an Indian Summer. So with all the sun I decided to cut back the tomatoes and broccoli. The tomatoes look very naked, cause I cut as many leaves as possible so that sun could get in there and with any luck rippen them up before the next cool down. I have over 100 tomatoes out there, pray for me. Went ahead an pulled up the squash, we weren't that lucky with it. Had several little ones but they rotted before they got any bigger than a pickle. Today I got one good sized one, one is better than none! Japalones are still hanging in there so I will make do with what I have and be happy!
Went to the store and bought some canning jars, I will be calling on my mom to walk me through the actual canning process, I don't want glass flying all over the place.
Hope everybody is having a great day in the gardens or just with family, take care and God Bless! -Trinity-
Yes...... thats right...... SNOW.... in my yard....... by Wed. I would like to trade weather conditions with somebody. Woke up this morning and it was in the 50's, during the day it dropped into the 40's and the low for tonight is 34. It snowed in the high country today. A lot of people sent in some beautiful pictures to the news stations. I'm sad mostly cause I really think I'm gonna loose all those veggies. We'll see though, this is Colorado and you can have all four seasons in one day. (Thats why I never pack the clothes away...lol)
Have a great day tomorrow! -Trinity-
Good morning! Good gravy are the hubby and I sore. We were looking for something to do with Kenzi yesterday afternoon and decided we would take her roller skating. Now, back in my day, I was a skating fool.....I could skate forward, backward, spin circles, limbo, dance a little, I was awesome. From what I hear Shane was quite the skater himself. LOL.......we ARE NOT those people any more! We were doing good to remain on our feet, I would like to see a video of what we looked like last night. I bet we could send it to Americas funniest videos and win. There is a lot of pain this morning, but it was well worth it. Kenzi refused to hold my hand and skate, only dad would do, and thats ok cause she and dad feel down a lot! I managed to stay on my feet the whole time, but I think I gave my self whip lash....lol.....no I'm serious...lol. We didn't learn our lesson and the pain isn't bad enough to keep us from doing it again next weekend, who knows it could even be today. Its good exercise thats for sure. I hope all of you had a great yesterday and an even better today!
Oh bad news, after all my excitment about my Grandma, she won't make it for another day. Since she doesn't drive, my Uncle drives her. He works at a college and he couldn't get away until late today. Still excited though. At least her whole trip wasn't cancelled. And by the way thank you all for your comments and support. You are all a wonderful wonderful bunch of people! I love you & God bless!
I am so happy, I get to see my Grandma tomorrow. I love her so much. I wasn't raised around her, my mom left my (bio)dad when I was 10 months old (ugly story) any way, my mom and my Grandma were always in contact and I saw her at least once a year. She's never driven so we always went to her. So life went on, I grew up, I was a jerk (to put it mildly) I didn't speak to her or my Aunt & Uncle for 11yrs. When I "grew" up I decided that life it too short to be ugly and treat the ones you love badly. So I called my Grandma, she forgave me and we've only gotten closer since. When I saw her in January, she gave me a letter my maternal Grandmother had written to her. (She passed when I was nine) She had kept that letter for 25yrs just for me so I could have a piece of my Grandma. To you it might not sound like much, but you will never know what comfort that brought me and how even right now it makes me cry to know my Grandma loves me so much. Both of them actually, my maternal Grandma had written to her about me. There is a story there but its lengthy....nobody thought the two of them got along, but they had a secret friendship if you will, and nobody knew until I got that letter. It isn't just the letter that has grown my love for her, it's everything that she is, says, how she loves, cares, her smile and her laugh. I am so thankful to have grown up and given myself a chance to know her, because of her I am a better person. Now if I could keep it together long enought to tell her that, I would feel even better.
McKenzi is a mess, since she's been loosing teeth that has been her new way of starting conversation with people. "Look I don't have these teeth or hey guess what, I lost these teeth." Most people are kind and say "oh wow isn't that something, did the tooth fairy come see you." Well this morning she and Shane went to the grocery store. From what I hear she showed "somebodies grandmother" that she lost her teeth, the lady was kind and made small talk with her. Kenzi and Shane turned the corner grabbed a gallon of milk and when they turned around the lady was standing there and asked if she could give Kenzi "this". She gave her two dollars. How sweet that was. I hope she said thank you! She is really a big bright light in my days, I am truly blessed to have her.
The temps here are suppose to stay in the 80's for the next two days, come Monday the highs will be in the 60's. I am worried about my garden and whats still going strong. They are not calling for frost but the lows will be 40's ish. So I'm thinking Shane and I are going to get out there and put some posts in so we can cover it, in hopes that it will keep anything from dying. Tomatoe, bell peppers, squash and Jalapenos are all loaded thats a lot to loose. I'll let ya know how that works out.
Hope all of you have a wonderful week end! Take care & God Bless -Trinity-
So there I was standing in the kitchen, finishing up dinner preperations. I was about to open the cabinet where the glasses are and BOOOM! I scream at the top of my lungs I have NO idea what just happened but it was loud, like somebody shot a gun off in the kitchen. I start to turn around and decided to grab the knife just in case. I turn, and there is glass everywhere, and I'm thinking what the hell, what just happened here. My mom and hubby come flying in the back door and my mom turns off the front burner and it hits me. I had put a fresh pan of brownies on that burner, thinking I had turned on the back burner to warm some soup to go with our dinner. It was on high to speed up the process and I guess that pan was not having it. Pyrex can take a lickin, but it sure makes a GIANT mess when you get it too hot! I grabbed the knife because my hubby had shut the front door since we were in the backyard, normally I lock the screen door and call it good. Me being "right" all the time I opened the door back up when I went in to finish dinner so all I could think at that moment was somebody was in my house to do harm, and I wasn't gonna let em get away without a fight. We don't live in a bad neighborhood, but I guess in this day and age you have to be prepared for it...sad!
So all the glass and brownies are picked up, needless to say there was only ice cream for desert. Its ok though a few less calories aren't going to hurt us. Be careful in your kitchens..lol. -Trinity-
To all the Grandma's & Grandpa's:
I hope you have a lovely day!
To everyone else, don't forget to call your granny and papa and tell them you love them and Happy Grandparents Day!
Have a good Sunday everybody! -Trinity-
Wow Wee, it is down right chilly out there this morning! 5o degrees and the high is 64, cloudy, maybe some rain. Think I'll make a big pot of chili and some corn bread. If you want stop by. I'll have all the fixins for Frito Pie (hubby's from the south, so this is a must). I am a bit excited cause my Broc. has really been going to town since its been cooler, and even cooler in the evenings so I may get an actual head or two in the next week or so. Hoooray! Tomatoes are still producing and still have a bunch of green ones so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Everything but the corn is still going strong actually. I'm blessed.
My columbines are done for the year I think, they don't look like they are going to do anything. Since this is my first time growing them I don't know what to expect, have to google it. Pansies are going strong. They are one of my favorites, probably cause they can take a lickin and keep on tickin..lol. The Alysum is going crazy, it has "jump" the divider that seperates it from the grass. Gonna have to do a little trimming. Rose bushes, well one is still blooming the others are real green, but no new buds right now. I have faith though my neighbor down the street, her roses are still going strong.
I hope all of you have a great week end whatever you do. Be careful, have fun & God Bless! -Trinity-
This is a really proud moment for me, I would first like to thank Cottagegardener and Reba for the instructions and God for the patients to slow down and follow those directions completly!!
Ok so Sandy I dedicate this first blog with photos to you...lol.
This is one in the front yard, I don't know how many I will get here but there are a few more in the album "Roses in bloom"

I love this one because it looks like this now and turns white by the time its dead. Ok I'm not gonna push my luck here, any way you can see a few more in the albums.
Well good morning! I hope this finds all of you doing great, hope everybody got to enjoy a long week end!
Yesterday we were lazy (I think I made you proud Witt..lol) We lounged around the house in our jammies until 11:00, I started a load of hubby's work clothes and then the dryer started making a terrible sound. I think it was protesting...after all it was Labor Day. After that we ate a late lunch and took the dog and the child for a walk. When we got home we all plopped down on the couch and watched a movie. It was a really great day.
I figured it would be business as usual today......not so much. Colorado is trying to save money so many of the government offices are closed today ie DMV and I really need to go there. They figure they will save about 13.6 million dollars by making state employees take 4 non paid days off. Which is fine with me, I just have places to go and I can't because I am not interested in getting another ticket. So I'll get my tags taken care of tomorrow. Everything happens for a reason I guess, and I really do have enough here at home to keep me busy so it all works out.
I hope everybody has a great week, it will be a short work week so theres a little something to lift your spirits. Take care and God Bless all of you and your family.
Hi guys/gals! Hope this finds all of you doing well, ejoying your weekend (hopefully its a long one)
Not too much going on here today and its rather nice. McKenzi went to church with Grandma today so hubby and I went and had a quiet lunch together, did some grocery shopping. Its nice to have a break from her, but if this is what its gonna be like when she leaves home, we're gonna have to find some major hobbies. Thank God I have 14yrs left to figure out what thats gonna be...lol. We are going to bbq later and just kick back. It doesn't sound like much but it's going to be great to spend some time with my family.
We took McKenzi to a place called Heritage Square yesterday. Its like an old victorian town set up in the mountains, ok I'll call them hills cause I don't think it sets up that high. Any way there are small retail shops, an amusement park, alpine slide, paddle boats, you name it, it's there. We had a great time until it started lightening and thundering, with all the rides still going hubby said we were lightening rods waiting to happen. So we called it a day. I posted some picts in my album, having trouble getting them to post here.
I hope all of you have a safe wonderful rest of the weekend! Take care and God Bless!
-Trinty-
Hi everybody! Hope you have all had a wonderful Wed. I can't believe this week is almost over. Is it me or is time really flying by these days. This whole year is almost over and I don't know where it went to, I don't recall being so busy that it pasted me by.....guess its one of those things.
I was just sitting outside with my mom, watching McKenzi and Dixie play. McKenzi hid Dixie's ball in her play kitchen, and Dixie got the door on the "oven" open and got her ball when McKenzi wasn't looking. And it got me to thinking, (because her favorite ball is a green tennis ball) I wonder if McKenzi has been hiding her ball and in desperation Dixie is picking the green tomatoes off the vine. I've heard that dogs and cats are color blind, but some of our tomatoes are about the same size as her ball. To a dog a loaded tomatoe plant could look like ball heaven and since we have soooo many plants she must be in overload. I still can't explain the jalapenos, but what do you think. I think I might be on to something.
It was nice here today. This was the first day in about 4 days we haven't had smoke filled air. Our skies here had been really gray and the sun looked like someone put a filter over it. So it looked like sunset all day. I feel so bad for the people in Cali. I remember what it was like here several years ago and the heat was triple digits and the heat from the fires made it so much worse and then the smoke, you could hardly breath. I haven't checked the news yet today, but I'm sure praying that things will get better there!
I hope you all have a wonderful evening and a great tomorrow! Take care & God Bless!
This is one of the kindest things you may ever see..
It is not known who replied, but there is a beautiful soul working in the dead letter office of the? US postal service.
Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey.. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so she dictated these words:
Dear God, Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick. I hope you will play with her. She likes to play with balls and to swim. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her You will know that she is my dog. I really miss her.. Love, Meredith
We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.
Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, 'To Meredith' in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, 'When a Pet Dies..' Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey &Meredith and this note:
Dear Meredith, Abbey arrived safely in heaven. Having the picture was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away. Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in, so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by.. Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you. I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much. By the way, I'm easy to find, I am wherever there is love.
>> Love, God
As far as I know this is a true story. It touched my heart and I just wanted to share it with all of you. Have a great day!Trinity
