Can you guess what happened today? You got it, I got another ticket. I am really angry at myself, last week I renewed my hubby's tags on his truck, did I think to check my own...no. So today I was cruzing with my mom in my car, I am 2 blocks from my house I can see my driveway and there he is flashing his lights at me. I thought no way its me, boy was I wrong. I was so flustered when he came to the window I tried to give him my debit card. He just laughed and said he wouldn't take that but he would take my DL and all the regular stuff they require. He was very nice and gave me a ticket, which is much smaller than the one I paid two weeks ago, smiled, told me to drive safe and have a nice day. If nothing else I can feel good that I am doing my part to stimulate my local economy. I wonder if somebody will nominate me for person of the year for doing so.....lol. Just kidding.
Other than the ticket, today was a great day. It was a nice 75degrees a light breeze, everything got watered. McKenzi and I harvested some more tomatoes and corn today. She shucked the corn, told God thank you for the veggies that make her strong and went to town eating the corn till there was nothing but cob and a few kerrnals on her face. She is my ray of sunshine everyday.
I took TG's advice and got some wire at Home Depot in hopes that it would keep Dixie out of the garden. Hope was the key word. She runs from one side of the yard to the other and jumps like she has springs in her legs. She got the other Jalapeno plant, not totally out of the ground but just about. I was able to put in back in. It must not have been out for long cause it doesn't seem to have suffered any shock. So I don't know what we will do. Summer is almost over and the garden will be done soon. Somebody told me if you put pennies in a can (alum) and shake them at her when she's bad it will whip her into shape, gonna try that. We really love her just not some of the things she does.
I had coffee with my neighbor this morning while I was watering my front yard. (The one that wants to pay me for everything.) Well I think my hubby may have broken down the wall. Yesterday evening he was cleaning out his truck and listening to some old country music, (which I thought was a little loud) and she was out working in her yard. From what I understand she was dancing with McKenzi and enjoyed herself. She said she and her husband used to dance all the time and after he passed she stopped listening to music cause it made her sad because he wasn't around to dance with her. She asked me to tell Shane thank you. That made my day knowing my hubby had made hers. We talked a little about my rose bushes and how the entire length of her porch was nothing but roses (she's down to one now) but since her husband passed, she hasn't really done much but keep up the grass. So I think I will give her a little more time to get to know us, but I would like to get her a rose bush and maybe start her a container of flowers for next spring. Something she will enjoy, but nothing that requires too much work. She loves my pansies and alysum, those are pretty fool proof and with some ornimental grasses that could be a nice "container garden". What do you think?
Well I have a mountain of laundry to do tomorrow, some grocery shopping and whatever else I can cram in after church, so I bid you all a good night and a wonderful tomorrow! Take care and God Bless! -Trinty-
A couple of blogs ago I had mentioned that the weather woman had said we could have snow by Sept. 15th. Well folks I'm getting a little worried, cause I think she could be right. One of my trees has already got yellow leaves and they are starting to fall off. Normally it doesn't start turning yellow until Oct. My hubby was up in the mountains yesterday for his thursday route and he said you can see the colors changing up there too. I'm worried because of the tomatoes, corn, bell peppers and jalapenos. They are all producing heavily, but aren't quite ready for harvest. I hope the good Lord will give us a little more time before the temps drop and the snow flies.
I hope all of you are doing well and have a wonderful weekend with great weather. Take care, happy gardening & God Bless! -Trinity-
Hello everybody! I am so glad to be back up and running again. On Friday morning I got on and went through my morning ritual check the email etc etc. Then my hubbys friend from work called and said hey google ------- so I did and all of a sudden all these screens were popping up. I had a ton of viruses, so I sent a text to my little brother and said sissy needs help when you get a chance. He is just wonderful, by Sat. he had it all fixed. Thank you Lord for blessing my bubba with a computer savy brain.
Lets see, I don't know if I told you that we never did find Dixie a better home.....well I sure wish we would've. I am just sick and crazy with that dog. Friday she tore up 4 tomatoe plants (from the ground root and all) they were all 6ft and loaded, Sat, she pulled up one Jalapeno plant that again was fully loaded and last night she got a cucumber plant. She is on the chain, I really hate to see a dog on a chain, but that is my last resort. I am trying like crazy to find her a ranch or something to go to cause I think that is where she would have constant companionship and not to much trouble to get into. Oh that dog. I'm not going to try and replant anything cause its too late in the season. So hopefully what I have will keep on keeping on. This may not have been the year for a veggie garden.
Went to the lake yesterday we swam and had a picnic lunch. It was McKenzi's first time, she loved it, she swam with a life jacket and did great. She introduced herself to every little kid she met by showing them she had lost her teeth. The boys were more interested in her, thus causing jealousy with some other little girls. Oh dear if this is what we have to look forward to we are in so much trouble!! Shane and I have sunburn in some places, McKenzi...no and I only got to reapply her sunscreen twice. Shane and I pretty much bathed in it and still got burnt. LOL, oh well it was fun family time and if sunburn is the price that has to be paid then so be it.
I hope all of you had a great weekend. I'm glad I got to catch up on your blogs, I missed them terribly. I'm not sure how I will handle going to visit my in-laws in Texas, nobody there has internet. Well the good news is that I don't have to think about that right now cause we aren't going for a few more months. Hope all of you have a great week! Take care & God Bless!! -Trinity-
Hello friends! I am back from traffic court. I have 2pts less than I did when I walked in but it beats loosing 7. I got away with only $94.00, when it should've been well over $100. The clerks thought the judge was in a bad mood, I didn't see it, maybe if he would've been in a good mood I would've got off totally clean. I will never know....oh well. Thank you Judge Juarez! I will see him again......only next time it will be on the street, and I will gladly buy him a coke.... or pepsi whatever he drinks. So it really wasn't as bad as it could've been and I am very thankful. Lesson learned and I will not soon forget it!
Hope all of you are having a great day, careful on the roadways!
Take care & God Bless -Trinity-
As you may recall, McKenzi's first day of vacation bible school I got my first ticket ever. Well after three weeks of waiting the court sent a letter saying I had to appear Aug.20th. Tomorrow is the day and I am being a HUGE baby about it. I don't want to loose points or pay a giant fine, I have learned my lesson! My hubby knows I am stressing about it and so on the calander he wrote in big black perm. marker THE HANGING! He's mean.
Oh I am so crazy mad at the birds right now. I was watering the garden and looking for ripe tomatoes when what do I see, half eaten red and green tomatoes...awwww. I almost attacked the dog and the child, and then I got a better look at the damaged ones and its a bird alright. I'm sure more than one, it think its the black ones, crows or something (I don't know birds). So I tied some plastic grocery bags in the area surrounding them and the corn, with any luck that will work for now.
McKenzi and I picked and dug up all of her carrots tonight, she has a weeks worth if she eats one a day. I don't know if its too late to plant more, but I think we are going to try anyway.
I cut back the broc. this evening it was "shading" the jalapenos and strawberries, everything needs a little sun. And I sure don't want hubby or child in there trying to do it for me. Then again it seemed like the garden really went to town after the "massacre", so maybe I should let McKenzi loose...lol.....NOT.
I hope all of you have a great day tomorrow, be careful whatever you do. And remember don't cross the solid white, make sure you use your turn signals and give your self a few extra minutes to get where you are going, you never know the line at the gas station may be a little longer than you thought it would be. God Bless! -Trinity-
Ranch Rush is a game I found online on Sunday, I was bored cause I was on strike and there it was. Of course you get to plant your garden and take care of the animals that help you accomidate your customers needs. (Feed the cows they give you milk, some customers want milk and cheese.) And its a timed managment game, so that just adds more intensity to the game. Anyway I have become obsessed and today its raining so after I got my house work done I've been playing it off and on. Last night I played it for an hour and went to bed, I was playing it all night in my head...awwwwwwww. So no more for today or I won't sleep well again, and more importantly I may be a family of one if it continues..lol.
Shane was in charge of dinner last night and it got a little over cooked and his comment was, if you weren't on strike this would have never happened. Oh yes I was on strike from cooking from Friday to Sunday. Just got burned out and decided to let it be on his shoulders for the weekend. I think he thought I was kidding and I would jump in and take over and when I didn't things got a little out of hand. He was glad for Monday to come. Bless his heart, I think he and McKenzi will both appreciate dinner more now....lol.
So the party went well on Saturday. McKenzi was rather helpful picking out the gifts, which was a suprise. Usually she "needs" something too. I think my baby is growing up...bittersweet moment. So here's a question. The family of the birthday boys are spanish. After singing Happy Birthday they sang a song in spanish and then the boys got their face close to the cake and then mom and dad shoved their faces in the cake. I don't know spanish so I don't know what the song was about. I talked to several spanish people I know and they can't explain the reasoning for that, some have done it as young children some had never heard of it. Do you know why or what it means? I think I like it, its like parents revenge...lol. I'm not evil I swear, I just believe what goes around comes around. Pay back for the garden massacre if you will. I'm just kidding, I just couldn't bring myself to do that. But I would like to know why.
So the "weeds" were taken out with the weed eater, but they didn't pull them out of the ground so when they make their come back I will get picts. And with the rain we're getting it won't be long.
I got two crowns of broc. today. I think I might steam it and serve it with dinner. I can't wait. They were kinda small, but I'd rather small than none at all. Corn is getting bigger and bigger. I am really excited cause there for a minute I thought it was all going to be little like the niblets you buy frozen. LOL
Have a great evening and a wonderful tomorrow! -Trinity-
Hi! I hope this finds you with a smile on your face and joy in your heart!
It is a beautiful 70 degrees here with cloud cover, I think we might get some rain...YAHOOOO! So to sum it up I'm super!
We took a trip to the farmers market yesterday. We arrived just as one vender was closing up shop, she was the one person I wanted to buy from, because she had Palisade Peaches. They are the biggest, juiciest peach you've ever had. Well turns out I didn't have as much cash in my pocket as I thought and she doesn't take plastic, so we setttled for pears. McKenzi "needed" them right then and there so we got them. I am going back this morning to get my peaches. Bitting into the pear made me miss home. I grew up in a small town that is made up of ranches, orhards and coal mines. In the summer we could go to the orchards pay a couple of bucks and then go out and pick the fruit we wanted, cherries, pears and peaches were always my favorite. Living in the city I don't have that luxury any more. Oh well, it gives me a good reason to go and visit next year.
We have a birthday party to go to this evening, McKenzi is so excited she can't stand herself. I haven't bought gifts yet so we will be on our way to do that just directly. That could be a story all in itself...lol. Our friend has the prettiest weed growing in her yard. I don't think it is a weed to be honest, anyway I'm going to take a picture of it tonight and with luck from the internet and all of you maybe I can figure out if it is a weed or not. If its not I'm gonna go dig her "weeds" up and bring them home with me, cause she doesn't like them.
Well friends, I hope all of you have a great weekend, be careful and enjoy yourselves whatever you do! God Bless -Trinity-
Goodmorning! I hope all of you are doing great on this fine day. I'm not to bad, a little jittery from too tooo much coffee. I woke up really early this morning to get some watering and weeding done. It's suppose to be in the 90's today and no moisture. Little miss McKenzi wants to go to the park today so we're gonna go early before it gets too hot.
Yesterday evening I planted some more green onions and cucumbers. I have one cucumber plant and its doing good just want more.
My squash is not doing so hot, its producing but the tomatoes are about 6ft and they are keeping the squash shaded, so they are growing to the size of small pickles and turning brown. Note to self, spread tomatoe plants out next year.
My broc is still doing good even with the heat we've had its still producing heads, kinda small but its ok, small is better than nothing. McKenzi and I sampled two little crowns yesterday, we couldn't help it they were crying out.....eat us, eat us, so we did.
We harvested a couple of small ears of corn a couple days ago, they were so sweet. I hope the rest of them will get bigger.
Shane (hubby) got to try his first japalone the other day, brought tears to his eyes, thats a good thing, can't wait to make some salsa, and stuffed japalones ( cut them in half, take out the seeds, put a chunk of cheese ,we use cheddar, in the center and wrap it with bacon, you can grill it until the bacon is done or put it in the oven 325 until the bacon is done....yummy! Not very healthy, but yummy!
One of my columbines has stopped flowering, the other one is still going strong. My pansies are doing just wonderful, and my alysum....oh I just love em. They are doing great. I have them planted under my bedroom window and I love it when the wind blows and their fragrance fills my room. Thats a great way to wake up! My rose bushes are still going strong, after the first blooms the size hasn't been as big, maybe I need to feed them??
Well, my little helper is awake now so I'll stop for now. I hope all of you have a great day, take care & God Bless!
Goodmorning & Happy Friday! What a beautiful day it is here. We got some good rain last night and its a nice 64 degrees, life is good.
I have a wonderful neighbor, very kind and loves the heck out of McKenzi. She is like an adopted Grandma to all three of us. I think she's in her late 70's at least, and she is very particular. Our front yards are not seperated by a fence or anything and so when we water if my water goes on her grass she gently reminds me I don't have to water her grass, that she can do it on her own. (I'm not watering her whole yard). And a couple weeks ago she had her children and grandchildren over to paint her house and clean the gutters and she said to me, I don't normally do this, but do you have a latter that I could borrow. We did and she tried to give us money, of course we didn't take it, but it struck me as a little odd. Then last night McKenzi and I were talking to her and I told her I have an abundance of tomatoes and bell peppers and asked if she would like some. She said sure. I came home filled a bag and took it back, she handed me money and I told her no, we had enough to feed the whole block. She gave the money to McKenzi and said she wouldn't take it for free. That made me feel bad, I don't know why. Growing up my neighbors were like family, we were always sharing something or so it seemed, of course we lived in a rual community so I don't know if that makes a difference. Maybe thats just the way she is, maybe thats how she was brought up. I don't know. I just know I would like to do nice things for her, but I don't want her money and I don't want to offend her. I guess this is a live and learn situation.
Tooth update: It came out yesterday evening, the toothfairy left a note letting her know pulling her own teeth doesn't pay as much and she should let them fall out on their own. Thank you all for your comments and encouragment. I hope I can be half as helpful to my brothers as you have been to me!
We had crazy rain here yesterday afternoon. There was so much lightening it looked like someone had turned a disco ball on outside, the rain and wind were coming from every direction. Wow....the only thing that got damaged in my yard was a rose, blew the petal plum off it, only that one though. I can live with that, it could've been way worse.
I hope all of you have a great weekend in the garden or with family & friends or all the above. Take care and God Bless! -Trinity-
Goodmorning all! Hope everbody's day is off to a great start.
It's a nice 72 degrees here this am, with some cloud cover, and we have a nice little breeze blowin. I love it cause its suppose to be another hot one.
Tuesday I went out and pulled weeds on the side of my drive way (about 500sft I know it's not that much) I got almost all of it done and thought I would finish up yesterday......it hurt to touch water, and I could hardly sit, once I sat I could hardly get up, and Lord how it hurt to walk for too long. I went to the grocery store for a few items and like to not made it out....LOL. From my butt to my knees I was one sore unit. Basically I spent the day doing squats, which are really good for your butt and legs, I think I will just pace my self next time. Oh the life of a gardner.
McKenzi is bound and determined not to have any teeth by her Birthday. As you know she lost the bottom one sat. night, well yesterday about 1pm she was playing tug-a-war with a stuffed animal in her room. All of a sudden she comes downstairs and says, "I broke my tooth on my tiger" Not a lot of blood, but some. After I rinsed her mouth I checked the tooth and sure enough the other one on the bottom is loose. One thing is for sure the toothfairy is not paying $5! I think I'm gonna do one of two things, 1. Buy her a helmet and a mouth gaurd or 2. Put her in a bubble for a couple of months...LOL. My hubby and I are young enough to have more children, but I don't think my nerves and heart could handle it. LOL, oh well this is parenthood I guess. (This is where you tell me encouraging stories, shine a ray of hope in my direction, tell me I'm not alone...LOL)
We ate our first cucumber out of the garden yesterday.....yummy yummy yummy! There is just nothing better than fruits and veggies you've grown yourself.
Well I guess I should get busy before it gets too hot to do anything outside. Hope everyone has a great day. Take care and God Bless!
Goodmorning! Hope all of you are having a great Sunday already.
I am so excited it finally happened.... I have broccoli! I found four heads this morning, they are just little, but I am hopeful that they will get bigger and I will get more than four heads. I did some deadheading while we had the cool weather last week, I don't know if that helped or what, but I'm not complaining! We are suppose to see some warmer temps, but not as high as it usually is, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
McKenzi lost another tooth lastnigt. I don't think I have shared the story about the first one. One Tuesday night she was sitting on the stairs in the livingroom eating a snack and playing with a plastic truck. All of a sudden she was screaming bloody murder and blood was going everywhere. She had bit the truck and the tooth got stuck between the frame and the body of the truck, her front tooth went straight up, it tore the gum and I had to take her to the dentist the next morning. She lost it, but no damage was done. Last night we were eating dinner and she said her tooth hurt and that she could move it with her tounge. So after a little smooth talking she let me feel it and sure enough it was ready to come out. After a little more smooth talking she let me pull it so the tooth fairy could bring her some cash.......after all, "it's a long time till my birthday and I "need" a new toy now" lol she makes me laugh so hard some times. I posted some picts if you want to see her "new" smile.
I think I missed the babies (robins) first flight. I don't see mom in the tree and haven't heard the babies singing. Dang it, I was really looking forward to that. Oh well, maybe next time. Good luck babies, watch out for Daisy, she might be a "senior" but she's still got the moves.
I hope all of you are enjoying your weekend and here's to what I hope is a great week for all of us! Take care & God Bless! -Trinity-
