Well, some of the old-timers here on Garden Guides heard my warnings of needing Plantaholics Anonymous before, but we have a whole new crop of Garden Guides peoples now! So, if you read this before----just go to the next blog-----I'm here to help the newcomers!
Originial writing by mitzilou about the pitfalls in a gardener's life......
Plantaholics Anonymous!
Yesterday, I finally had to admit to myself that I'm a full-blown plantaholic. I am now a member of a plantaholic anonymous chapter in my area. Therefore, I'm blogging here today a list of symptoms to help others in GG that may be suffering from the same addiction......
If you find yourself admitting to a few of the following symptoms......you may want to seek help as I had to do.....
I. If you find yourself with sweaty palms, heart palpitations, and drooling of the mouth just thinking about a trip to the nursery......
2. If the garden center knows you on a first name basis......
3. If you have to give yourself a pep talk on the way to the nursery saying.....OK......this is my budget, and I'm sticking to it, but thinking the whole time what you can do without that week, like groceries, in order to buy more plants.....
4. If you find yourself standing over a plant for more than five minutes trying to think of a good reason .......besides you can't afford it .......for not purchasing it........
5. If you have to buy a few more clumps of a certain plant just to keep the first clump happy......
6. If you find yourself actually talking to and promising a plant......that you will be back to get it........SOON!
7. If you feel the need to hide plant purchases in the trunk of your car from your significant other, and later.....much later.......sneaking them out into the garden that night......
8. If you swear you heard the nurseries calling out your name as you drive by........
9. If all your waking hours are consumed by thoughts of your next plants purchases......
10. If you are running out of space in your yard, and yet, you are still buying more plants!
WARNING----if you see yourself in any or all of the above stated situations, then you may need to seek immediate help!
My Stella-de-Oro lillies bloomed out ( I did pick off the dried up blooms----later!) It would have looked a lot lovelier without the dried up blooms, but there's no dandelions in the picture, at least!
My Purple Coneflowers are blooming again in my Dry Garden area-----I'll try to get a less blurry pic to show. Also, I tried to get a nice shot of the bee in the pic----but he's kinda blurry too!
The official Garden Inspector came to check out my weeding and mulching job I did in my garden area that I call the Dry Garden. I got a paws up for my job, so the Inspector got a little treat! The Inspector's name is Taz-----Mr. Taz to you! (since this photo was taken----the Stella-de-Oro in front of Taz have bloomed----I'll show in another blog)
