I was finally able to get into the vegetable garden this week and got everything weeded. Saturday morning I went over to the local garden center and bought 3 Cool Breeze Cucumbers, 2 Hale's Best Jumbo Canteloupe, and 1 Gold Rush Summer Squash. I managed to get all of them out into the garden. Here are a few pics of my work.
Preparing to mulch. Step one, put down paper barrier.
Mulching. Step two, put down compost material, keeping it away from
stems.
Preparing hills for cucumbers, cantaloupe and summer squash.
Cucumbers, Cantaloupe and Summer Squash planted and mulched.
Garden is in, and it is ready for summer. Bring on the heat!
Hope you are all enjoying your Memorial Day weekend. Remember those who serve our country, yesterday, today and tomorrow. God Bless.
It has been too long since I posted last, I can hardly keep up with photographing the flowers that are blooming daily. Here are a few of my favorites from yesterday and today.
Arctic White Clematis
Ballerina Rose Bush
White Spiderwort
Stella de Oro Daylily
Japanese Iris
These are just a few, if you want to see everything that is in bloom, check out my What's In Bloom Calendar.
Happy Gardening to everyone, hope you are all seeing such beauties in your own yards!
We have had almost an 1 1/2 inches of rain in the last 5 days. There is no way for me to even walk to the vegetable garden to look at what has sprouted. However, I can get to the front driveway beds just fine. I took a couple of photos to share with all of you and added a bunch to my calendar, "What's In Bloom."
You can see the lettuce and radishes doing very well with all the rain in the photo below.
Bluebells are completely full of blooms and it reminds me that I should really split them this fall and move some around. The neighbor showed interest in having a few when the time comes to divide.
Chives are just getting ready to bloom as well. Enjoy and happy gardening to all.
Took some new photos out in the yard today, didn't do any actual work. Drank some tea on the deck and talked to Brooke about the radishes we planted a few weeks ago. We pulled just a couple out and she was soooo excited. Thought you would all enjoy this new gardener of mine.
