My granddaughter hurried into the kitchen to report there was a really bad odor coming into the house from outdoors. I asked what it smelled like. She said, "I've never smelled anything this bad"! My daughter agreed with her.
I had placed the brewed coffee grounds and moth balls out to keep the neighbor Tom cat away. Mixed with the odor from the cat urine, this was NOT any fragrance any animal or human would want to be around! So the windows were closed and fans turned on in the house. The warmer weather was gone by late and cooler temps allowed us to keep the windows closed today...lol
There was no evidence the Tom visited the garden overnight . I went out first thing this morning to investigate. Placed more coffee out there. My hubby said he was glad I had run out of moth balls...Everyone in the house is hoping the coffee will work so we won't need anymore moth balls..lol
Took 24 cutting of my red tip shrubs in hope to fill in between the ones I have planted out back. I put 12 in water and 12 in potting soil. I love living fences.

I read in the Magazine "This Old House" a suggestion to keep cats out of the garden. Coffee grounds even brewed coffee grounds. I have not tried it yet. Tomorrow I will start putting out two days of stored up coffee grounds! After paying $28 for deer urine it would be cheaper for me to go get that coffee from the local dollar store and spread it all over my garden! The cat urine goes all through my house when I open the windows. This is a neighbor's cat. I know coffee will smell better...lol
My iris are sill standing up so proud but ... not a bloom yet. I bought this near black bearded iris 3 years ago. Last year the bloom was just about to open and my then 2 year old granddaughter picked it right off the stalk and brought it to me just so proud. So this year she had been trained to leave the flowers and just smell them..lol
I haven't felt to good the last two days so I have just been piddling around the flower beds. I found I have a lot of ants that I didn't have last year.

All my plants survived the egg hunt yesterday! we had 32 guests and over 400 eggs. 16 children and not 1 plant stepped on! Miracles do still prevail....
The weather changed from warm and sunny yesterday to cool and misty today. How blessed I was to have such a lovely day!
My Azaleas are opening up, Mimosa Tree has new buds, Gerbera Daisies are blooming, Oh what a wonderful morning I have had.
God Bless you all.
I have Wondering Jew to get rid of.. Purple and green. If anyone wants this fast growing plant let me know before March is over. I am so tired of thinning this plant back. It is everywhere on my property.

Family will be here today. We are expecting a beautiful day here in Texas. 74 degrees makes for a great egg hunt. I do hope my plants survive the scramble for that hidden egg...lol
My Mother past away in Feb. this year. She gave me a small redbud tree from her yard before she passed. It hasn't budded yet. I do hope it made it through the winter. But the Japanese Maple, she and I planted last summer while she was here on a visit, has leafed out. It is just beautiful. The Gerber Daisies are blooming too. I hope a little foot doesn't find them today during the egg hunt.
My iris are not blooming yet. Neighbors are in bloom. I thought they didn't need any extra care! These are the near black ones that I bought at the local nursery. They didn't bloom last year. Any advice on how to encourage the bloom would be much appreciated.
Neighborhood Tom Cat still in my formal courtyard garden. I put baking soda around everywhere to lessen the smell so our guests could enjoy the area for socializing with one another. I cannot catch that Tom, but when I do he is going to find another yard at another neighborhood. I hope, but the Humane Society will probably give him back to the neighbor along with a fine.
Gotta get busy cooking! Happy Easter to everyone. May the Lord Bless you all and keep you safe this year.

I thought I had lost these wonderful plants. After the flooding they began to leaf out.I thought for sure they were going to bloomless! Looked out this morning to find buds on there. Some were even beginning to open.
I haven't written much because I have enjoyed reading all the blogs and looking at the pictures so many have uploaded.
I just love this website so much. Thanks to all of you. You make my mornings so nice before the sun comes up. It motivates me to get digging!!!
