Morning Ladies and Gents. Not so happy with the new job. Its not what I expected. Well I wasn't expecting anything. I just don't like the knowledge I am learning. And I dread the hours. I don't think I would mind as much if I was home earlier. I am still looking, but at this point I am just happy to have a job.
Chickens!! Anybody want chickens? LOL So I am trying the free range thing. If I leave them in the pen, I notice the 2 white ones seem to fight with themselves and the others. I'm pretty sure the one is a rooster, and its almost the size of a turkey. I bought ones that were sexed. They were all supposed to be females. So the decision to make them free range happened when the cat and dogs started with ticks. AH they love it, I was OK with them in a few flower beds. I can deal with this. Then they found the back porch. Poop everywhere. They started snipping my plants veggies (in containers) and now my flowers. I have raised them, but they even ripped apart a hens and chick, in one of those tall terra cotta with holes in the sides. ahhh I am so unhappy. But the poop, its everywhere, and to get some of it off I have to drag out the hose. Plus the dogs are stepping in it as well as myself. We have attracted hawks. They float over my yard. The cat is panicing coming across the yard. He runs and zig zags. Poor guy. My coop is getting to small with these white ones growing like turkeys. Maybe I got turkeys. No they look like chickens, just must have been fed some hormone growth thinger ma bob. It seemed fun. I was all excited, raising my own eggs. At this point my advise is stop at a farm and pay the extra for a few brown eggs. UGH!!!
My veggie garden is doing well this year. Why those chickens haven't made it in there, the fence is low. They did go in once after I tilled. I left the gate door open. I thought I was doomed, but they don't or haven' t figured out how to fly over the short little fence. Oh bite my tongue!
