Help in transplanting clematis Apr 28, 2009 | 5:55 PM PST
I have 3 clematis that are planted between a flower plum tree and a small pergola. The space between the tree and the pergola is not that long that the 3 clematis are smothered by the tree and the structure. Does anyone know a safe way of transplanting them and if so, when would be the best time to do this. I also have two beautiful clematis that this year did not even sprout, Bees Jubilee and Florida Sieboldiana. I think gophers might have eaten them but all the others in the same area are fine so maybe not gophers. What could happen to these two. They are my favorites too and I am really upset. I would appreciate any advice.
