I finally got a chance to plant my wife's mothers day flowers! Parrots beak in the center, with marigolds and baby's breath surrounding. It should look really nice with red, purple, yellow flowers when they're all in bloom.
And the present for my mother in law is a shake plant (mother's tongue)... we found it for $10 at the grocery store of all places, what a steal, its literally bulging out of the pot!
Since I would never give someone a plant THAT overgrown, I decided to split it into 2 pots... 2 became, 3, and 3 became 4!!! 9 plants in total... holy snake plants batman! The pot on the far left is the original... how they all fit is still beyond me! I think they are far more attractive as a few plants per pot. Now a have a present for my mother too!
Sean's avocado tree is growing as fast as he is! Nearly 7 months old now. You can see my wheatgrass on the left and a kalanchoe cutting in the greenhouse.
A nd for the final picture... my orchid is in full bloom! Happy gardening!
The banana peppers have come up! I have a better light this year, than a spiral 15 watt cfl that I've used the last couple years. Its (2) 40 watt cfl that fits over the top of an aquarium... it was my brothers, but he got rid of his tank and gave me the light. These are in 100% worm castings, no soil. When they start growing a few more leaves I'll transplant the largest ones into 3" pots until the final move outside.
Sean's avocado tree is doing very well. It has doubled it's leaves in one month! It's only about 8" tall, and is already nice and compact.
Yest erday was in the mid 60's so we brought Sean out to play for the first time! He's been in his stroller, but not out on the grass. As you can see, he's getting very big! We went to story time at the library last Friday, and he dwarfed both the 6 and 8 month old that were also there. I wish he'd slow down a little bit, it seems like he outgrows our favorite clothes after he wears them once! Until next time, have fun planning and preparing your gardens!
