We went to Lowes and Home Depot this afternoon and had a look see. We bought some tomatoes, cukes, banana pepper, mairgolds, bee balm and I found a nice pink fleabane. I have never tried this before and it is pretty. Also got some apricot colored sunflower seeds.
I have a few iris pictures.
Here is one of my pinks that bloomed different colors. I think last year it was only one color.
Pablo is getting depressed because I havent posted a pix of him in a while. Please bear with me and let me humor him.
He is a pretty funny little fat dog.
Last is a section of my back fence that I decorate with birdhouses and such. It gives us something to look in the early spring and winter when there are no flowers growing.
I do love April. We can finally get out and get started with the flowers. Here is a rose that I dont know the name of.
I love a yellowish orange rose.
I think pinks are very underrated. I planted these last year and they remained green and are blossoming nicely this year. I am considering edging my beds with them.
This is the first year for this iris to bloom.
Here are some crafts my neices and I did over Easter. I put the bird houses out on my back fence for decoration.
Looks like a billion zinna seeds have volunteered in my zinna patch. I have a couple of volunteer coreopsis and some lemon mint made its way across the yard. I know mints can get out of hand, but its beside the pool in a desolate, dry area. If it can live, I will let it. And really, I would love for it to spread a ways. I bet it would smell good if the lawn mower gets some of it.
We had family from Louisiana visiting last week. Here are our bacon wrapped, cream cheese filled halapanos. Delish but with a bite. Above is a pot of cracklins (gratons) that the men fried up while the ladies shopped.
Some of my lillies are starting to bloom in the top pix. The next is a quiet little corner of my yard that I started working on last year. The bright green small plants is parsley that I planted for the butterflies. This is a hot dry area.
The feeders have been busy. The yellow finch is a treat for us. This is the first year they have come to the feeders.
This blue jay was enjoying the left over breakfast biscuits.
Wayne caught this one while they were frying the cracklins. I love this pix.
This is Kitty. She is dainty and beautiful and knows she is a queen. She is a great hunter also.
I love the color of this rose.
The squirrels are up and running.
I said I would NOT buy a single plant this year. I lied. This rose is called Charisma and I love it.
By the way, that isnt the only plant I have bought. I bought marigolds, dusty miller, a holly hock, african blue basil, caladium bulbs, blue salvia, vincas, coleus, Josephs Coat rose, and a banana sweet shrub tree. I will buy more.
