So I was doing a little garden cleanup and surprise.... found some old seed packages in a pot with water in the bottom. I picked up the soggy packs, opened them, and surprise...they had sprouted! Oh my I did a little happy dance on the patio. One of the packs was squash. Well, I decided to poke a few in the bed aound my patio. The dirt there is wonderful, the bed is raised, and it's close to the back door. Now, surprise #3..they are coming up! Happy dance #2. I may have to do this more often. I like the idea of a few veggies amongst my pretties. What is it they call those kitchen gardens? potager? Something like that? Anyway that's probably just how they came to be.
This weekend has truly been a washout. Raining cats and dogs. Tornado warnings, thunderstorms, hail etc. We are supposed to cook out with the fam this afternoon. That may have to be changed to a cook in! Ya'll have a great day! And get in that dirt! Trish
Well, I have been in the dirt today! Went to a friend's house who raises horses and loaded up my truck with with you know what...horse poop! I was so excited to get this! Hubby finished my raised bed boxes this morning and I also bought a bunch of dirt. I'm tired, but it's a good tired. I have some time off in a couple of weeks and I want to be really ready to jump in. The weather here has been in the mid 80's and almost no humidity. It has been a beautiful day.
It forever amazes me that no matter how heavy your heart may be, or what problems you think are unsolvable, being in the dirt can somehow lift all of that off your mind. At least it is a reprieve from the world for a while and sometimes the solutions will then seem to come from nowhere. I think we all probably know where those answers actually come from, but I'm just so glad He often uses the dirt to get the message to us! Ya'll have a great day... and get in that dirt!! Trish
