frogs.. this pepper plant has put out one beautiful green pepper. Almost the size ready to eat. I gave it some rain water yesterday-tonite it'll get a good drenching of overnite rain-then after that, time to bring it in at night-but I'll put it on the deck for sun during the day.The young man that was suppose to work for us yesterday never showed, never called. We had a good days work lined up, and probaly another full day next week. This young man has no job, does have a truck payment that the parents are paying at the moment, and no money in his pocket. Well, he also made a garden at his parents house,so I figured he would like to help me plant the blueberries, etc. We had plenty of work for him lined up. This is number 3. So the stuff J needed a hand with yesterday didnt get done. But we did get some yard stuff done, odds and ends.Daughter will come over this morning, and give me a hand for a couple hours, then probaly again next week. We'll putter on the garden beds, maybe get blueberries in if I have everything ready, and do some much needed wacking.I hope I can find the trimmers and long shears this morning.Rain is due in tonite and last all day into thursday nite, then sunshine again for the weekend. The cat has claimed all places high, and I've had to clear off my high shelf of glass and plants to a bare shelf,as he almost wiped out everything the other day.He won't leave the plants alone, and keeps climbing inside the pots to lay down. The first stove is done -all parts function great-looks great and is ready to sell. The air is drier now-thank god,and the sunny days are great for working in the yard.

mantis and wackers.. after surviving his 2 vet visits. His back legs were shaking so bad on the table I thought he would fall off. He was scared out of his wits, and decided to stay right close by me.He got his 2 shots, rechecked for fleas, and good to go till midwinter, when they'll neuter him. He's definitely got a routine.I should have named him "Rocket".Up to 3 lbs. now,and takes the stairs up or down 90 m.p.h. daily. After accidently stepping on him in the kitchen the other day, I now walk slower with whatever I'm doing. He limped for a few days, but is ok. He wakes me up from my naps on purpose or in the morning. He'll sit in the window, and watch J do whatever he's doing in the back yard. He's also a good fly catcher, and J wants to let him go downstairs cellar-soon as he fixes the last hole in the skirting this weekend and gets rid of any rat poison. We already have the cat hole door in the door from the last cat,and he keeps peeking thru it wanting to go down. He's quite entertaining. With some paid help, J got the shed built, just the minor things left now like the trim-and pop in a plexiglass window. I've already started filling it with the garage sale stuff. Thank god, we sold the new bathtub unit, the day after putting it in there. We knocked the price down from what we paid for it,to see it go and not have to store it- taking up so much room.I see some red tomatoes from my window, and the weird pepper plant on the deck just doesnt want to give up.It produced yet another green pepper-this time one we can eat thats not all deformed. Its the most undesirable looking plant I've ever seen, and keeps putting out flowers. It was given to me last winter, and I had no time for it, this summer I even tried to kill it,but it keeps hanging on.So now I'll bring it inside, maybe it'll get fresh dirt if I have a few spare minutes. The big sign advertising the garage sale, was put up, and looks good and its big enough. "Screamin' Mimi's Perfect Pickins'". Right now,its only weekends, and we put the flag out and another big sign when we're open-plus I tell everyone that its only weekends for this year. Next year we may have to do something different. My raised beds are in dire need of some attention, but I do know one person who likes gardening,so I think I'll give him a call, and at least some of it will get done this year, and the blueberry bushes will go in like their suppose to.

yummy... if nothing else-there will always be a story tucked in memory here and there. When running a garage sale, people from all over stop in. They might be from all over town- over the entire state, and many from another state, perhaps on a vacation. I have quite a group of regulars that stop in weekly or bi-weekly. A fella stopped in, Dad was tending the sale, I was in the hot tent right near-by,re-arranging the totes, getting things better situated, for rain was going to roll in. I overhear a guy say something about military-then leave. So I asked Dad if thats what he wanted. Yup,but Dad told him we didn't have any things like that. So I went back to what I was doing.Opening totes, checking inside,re-stack.ok- I open a tote, and yes there's military. J's outfits, from long ago. A while back, we decided to hang them up for sale and see them go,otherwise its just another tote cluttering up. Well, he now uses his boots,as I couldn't convince him to let me plant Hens & Chicks in them. Oh, well, I tried. So I pulled them out, and said yup, Dad, we have a couple here, might as well hang them. A German Trenchcoat, J's stuff, and a WW11 jacket that was his Dads. We had already sold his helmet last year. J got a pole for me, and we hung them.Well, about 15 min. later,up rides a young lady. A tall thin, probaly middle 20's,biking up from Portland, which is a good 2 hr. drive in a car. Man, she's got some stamina. She's checking everything out, buys a nice full length mirror.Of course, I looked at her like she was crazy, and start laughing. Then she realizes why I'm laughing, and starts laughing, asks me if I would keep it for her, and she'll come up in her car in a couple weeks to get it. No problem,I start writing her out a receipt. So she's still looking around, ooohhing and aaahhing, exclaiming all the while, that I have alot of stuff-good stuff too,and its reasonable. Yes- I sure do, I say. Then she spots the military. She gravitates right to J's Dads jacket. It's one of those that come to the waist. We had put a $25 tag on it, but we're firm on the prices of this stuff. She takes the coat down, and slips it on, gets in front of her new mirror, and its a perfect fit. I never seen nothing like it. I can't believe his Dad was that small. J says, well- he was only 22 way back then-skinny and wirery. The young lady really likes the jacket, and it looks pretty darn good on her too. A good spring-fall jacket. So she whips out another $20 for me to hold that for her, I add that to the receipt, and the info that we both need. I ask J to put the items in the house for me, and she is so excited to find 2 such great items for herself. After she leaves on bike to her destination,I'm thinking to myself, I'd really like a quest book-that people could sign if they want to,just their name and where their coming from.. So later on, J says, his Dad would be really happy to know a young lady is sporting his jacket, and knows she'll take care of it while she has it at least. She wanted to know his name, and where he wore it,so J told her,and also that it would make his Dad happy too.At least for now, its not going in the woods being shot up with paintball guns. lol. A bit later on,a truck pulls up with bald front tires. We've been trying to sell these 7 truck tires for 3 seasons. All 7 are going for $50. Unfortunately, Dad can only sell 2 of them. But oh- well, at least I finally got rid of 2, and they were able to pass their next inspection on their truck for a fraction of what it would have cost them. J worked pretty hard on the building of the new shed yesterday. Got the groundwork done, and whatever he was doing with the string and level stuff, and 3 holes done.He put the lumber in Dads bay for the rain coming in, and stacked his P.T. nearby. We had to close early, but it was a pretty good weekend for us. Well, it was also his birthday. And of course all I had was a card. We were just talking about having some clams & Maine lobster this week.I got to put a plug in here, as we have some of the best lobster in the country. We usually do it once or twice a year.On the way home from Ma's,I see a yard sale sign,so of course I have to follow it. And glad I did. I picked up a clam steamer just the right size, for $5 for J's clams, as I dont have a steamer, gave him a kiss and the pot. Let me tell you, he is one lucky man....lol.

sunshine.. To the kitty's problem. He is a he by the way. All of 2.5 lbs. of him.lol. I think he was the smallest they've had at the vets in a long time, as he just made the office ladies giggle. They got me in, in the afternoon the other day no problem. I thought I would have to wait at least a week for an appt. I quess its better than going to the docs, all questions were answered, they took their time with him,so he got a good check-up.The reason they were pretty sure of the throwing up- was worms,so they de-wormed him. He hasn't gotton sick since, thank god. I'm still covering my couch at night though just in case.Checked him for Lukemia, all is well there, and de-flea-ed him also.Distemper shot, his next visit is at the end of the month, and other than fixing him ,he'll be good for a year. His eyes are bright and teeth/ gums & ears are all healthy. He just needs to put on a little weight they said, but that will happen.I also put him on dry Iams kitty food-and they gave me a sample starter pack of Science Diet to try. They got a kick out of him for a little guy-they said he is very affectionate, likes to use his hands alot and likes heights. We've seen him in action here.So a kitty tree is planned. Now he's sleeping alot more also. He's got a small arsenal of play toys, and loves them, along with the standard paper bag and box. The front steps are done! Both railings are on,its the correct height now, and bigger. The steps light works the way its suppose to! Amazing. The insurance company is very satisfied. It no longer pools at the bottom of steps, and drains away real good. This morning we stake out the shed, and he breaks ground! J has 5 days off,if rain on Monday-then its working on the furnace in the cellar. I've been doing some mowing, trimming, and working on tagging for the sale this weekend. My Mums look real good this year, and my deck looks better now than it has all summer. The yellow finches fly onto the deck now everyday and get in the flowers to eat something. I dont know what their picking at,but their pretty.Nights are chilly in the 50's, but a nice dry air mass finally, along with sunshine makes for some very nice days. I now have a U-Haul load to add to the garage sale this weekend, with some nice goodies,so I hope its a good sale weekend. If the weather is good next week, I would like to advertise it in the paper. Get groceries today, and gear up for some action!...
