lovely spring flowers.. the guys baseball game got rained out, and I didnt get the house all to myself. What a bummer...anyways, this spring seems exceptional. All springs are good, but this one seems greener faster, the flowers are healthier and much more of them in a shorter time.I'm pretty sure I'll be cutting the grass this weekend. We've had rain every other day.Temps are fluctuating from 35*- to 65*. All the trees are starting to burst with their buds.My front garden is spectacular, even with all last years overgrowth.Today is suppose to be no rain-so I think I can work that front bed for awhile, and get the 2 window boxes ready. Some of the stain has worn off the new deck, probaly from shoveling it,so we need to wash it this spring and reapply a new coat. The 2 raised beds near the house will get pulled up,as we need to put new foundation skirting on the whole north side.Whats there was painted OSB, when we moved in 7 yrs ago, now rotted and falling off.So we'll go with a different kind of material that will last-hopefully decades, that I'll never have to do again.I'll be taking those same beds, as long as their still in good shape, doubling them up, and putting them in a different spot.Which means all the plants have to be moved. When I walked around picking up all the blown in winters trash, I noticed the female Holly had doubled her size finally. She's been planted for 5 yrs now and a slow grower.I lost the male,so will have to get another if I want the red berries. Those will be flanking the deck stairs,as they have to be nearby each other.Jim says what the plan for this weekend, as we're watching the weather. I say about 25 things-take your pick.lol. Actually building those beds around the deck would be a darn good start. The first barbaque for sat. night at the kids house. The daughter and I had been slowly working on her big porch over the winter and got it painted up with a bright and cheery golden harvest color. She got my porch couch. Now we've torn up the old rug on her little porch, she sanded down all the window trim yesterday. We've got the new vinyl for the floor, much easier to keep clean, with a nice outdoor rug for wiping the boots. We can tape off the ceiling, start priming that tomorrow.Strong sun rays come in thru the windows as theres alot of glass, and the walls are now red,but thats also changing to a golden harvest yellow. The door also needs a fresh coat of paint-thats also red,but going with a more mellow brown-red.The strong sun has started turning it to an almost pinkish color. Yuk.Her front bed we worked on last year looks great this year, with more spring bulbs than what she had previously. The squirrels didn't disturb a good amount of her bulbs around her tree, and they've started popping up,which she thought were all but gone or destroyed.Daffodils and Narcissus,so this fall, we'll add a few more different ones.Everytime the squirrels bothered them- I just kept pushing them back down under. I told her they were only looking for nuts anyways, because they weren't eating them.So most of them survived the turmoil. We've hoed out her garage of anything broken that needed to go to the dump, and going thru the pile of wood thats salvageable. I know that she'll come over here and help me do the same-plus help me work the garage sale,so its surely worth it to help her there.4 hands are better than 2,and so much faster.Lots to do this week,so I quess its time to get crackin...

so pretty.. and more to come. We went north & checked on the house-met with the neighbors then headed back-declared it our honeymoon since we didnt take one last summer. Spent the night in the city- had a wonderful dinner.,We stayed away all day and didnt head back till late afternoon. Monday, the guys were suppose to come and put up the front gutter, but that got delayed till tuesday which was fine.I had Landon overnite,so it was hectic here as I had my brother & nephew also, and when tuesday afternoon rolled around ,I took a much needed nap. The gutter is up-rain due in today all day-so glad that got done.My tv stand came in yesterday-so jims putting that together for me & almost done. I did trash pick-up around the yard and filled 2 bags.Alot seems to blow in over the winter here. I also asked the guys to take off the wooden door in the garage, cut it and rehang. Now thats done-and I can get in there to start moving things around. All the guys are heading to a baseball game on saturday, and I've got the day & house to myself, yippee! oh- what shall I do!!..

the sweet smell of spring.. if my front garden is a wreck. They just keep popping up anyways! No blooms yet-but soon. I no longer have any snow on the property, and the pig puddles are retreating yet again. That front bed looks awful, since I didnt get a chance to clean it up in the fall. The soonest I can get out there might be next week,if it doesnt rain.Oh- well,I'll enjoy the blooms anyways. The top half of one birdbath bit the dust and made a mess also-as I wasnt paying attention and put it in the shed like I was suppose to. Its also like the Johnny jump-ups never left, as their popping up already. I can get to my potting shed just fine now,but its being used for overflow storage anyways for the time being. I decided I would plant just corn this year as I havent tried it. So i need the hubby to go fishing for the planting of fish underneath them.Hubby's doing good and working out at least twice a week now and back to full days.Shuffling around the living room furniture-the new tv stand should be here next week. A good solid second hand couch finally for me! Gone is the porch couch that hurt my hips. I now sink into this one and my toes dont even reach the end.Now thats paradise! I cleaned it up even though it really didnt need it- bought a new slipcover. No worry about Landon and his chocolate fingers. We're heading north for one night to check on the house, then back here to putter on the garage sale stuff. It may just be possible tomorrow I can get out to the little front bed near the stairs and window boxes and make those look nice or at least get them started.Spring is definitely here now with the day temps holding anywhere between 40-65*. Rain one day-then sun, back and forth. Our grass is already greened right up,soon I'll be mowing. Its coming faast. The lawn mower is ready to go.I still have trash pick-up day though,I'm sure I'll fill a bag with what blew in over the winter from the looks of things.Well, time to dream about what to put in that little bed for some color...

the smell of springtime.. So, I'm getting off that train.I'm not paying $70.00 for a metal perk coffee pot, thats all there is to it.And I didn't get to any yard sale-ing last summer,so when mine died, we had Dads drip coffee pot.We prefer perked coffee over drip if given the choice.I managed to find one in an antique shop the other day for $ 12.00. The last few rounds at retail stores wanted $70.00,and I simply refuse to pay that amount for any coffee pot. The last one was $40, which made me shudder, and of course gave up after the warranty expired, and I thought that was alot for a metal pot then. And this need not be anything fancy, just a standard metal perk coffee pot.So I'm back to the yard sale ones. His sister gave me hers that she never uses, its a smaller one-10 cup,so that will be used for emergencies when this one dies, and when we go camping. Ok, enough ranting over that. Jims doing well with recouperation, and back to work almost full day now.I say almost because he normally works till 5,but came home at 4 yesterday. Today we go look at a wood/coal furnace for the cellar, pretty sure we're going to get it. My worker bee Harman Mark 11 stove, will go out in his workshop bay,and I should be able to open the garage sale a bit sooner and end a bit later, and be warm out there.Or the very least-just getting out there earlier without being cold, and dusting & moving stuff around.Spring is now officially here, the robins do say, singing to beat the band.I don't pay attention to the calendar, only the robins will tell me when its spring. We've had green grass & mud, then another major snowstorm, now back to grass again and mud.Yesterday was one inch of snow, then back to all rain. And mud.My tulips are shooting up to beat the band this spring too.I can get to my shed with boots no problem, but havent got the time.I am ready to pull out the grill though,so I need to make time, its possible I may start hauling the deck furniture out of the way,as of course we packed the grill in the back. Well, that was silly of us.A different plan next year. When I checked the beds over a couple weeks ago, I had a garlic sprouting up from the last harvest. So if there's one there's probaly more, and we can eat the tops.Normally I don't plant the next round of garlic till Sept.We had planned on continuing to fix the small camper up,and use it.But we decided we really wanted a pop-up one. We're going to pull it out and park it near the garage-road with a "for sale sign as is" for a reasonable price. We're about 3/4 of the way done.,if we dont get any action, then we'll finish it, and the price goes higher. The big room we call the 'addition" works quite hard.Even though its large, its a multi-tasked room. The far corner-8x10,is the add part to the bathroom, one corner is where the stove is located, and go out onto the deck. One section is the living room area, and one section where you walk in from the mudroom, with coats and boots area. The breakfast bar is 1/2 in the kitchen 1/2 out there.I'm changing around the furniture a bit to fit better and to upgrade. My couch is really a porch couch, not all that comfortable,so its time to buy a couch. This couch will go down in the kids rec room we're putting together.I don't want to buy a new couch, just a really "in good condition" couch.Jim picks up the "in really good condition" sitting chair tomorrow. Craigs List is probaly going on in all 50 states, and it has proven to be worthwhile.I just picked up 5 Dr. Seuss books for Landon without paying a fortune for them. The entertainment tv center is too big,and too heavy. That goes on the garage sale, and will be good for someone who has more space.A smaller one is ordered and should be here next week.We will add casters to that one.I swapped out my small mud room bench for a small padded storage chest that we can also sit on,an even swap for a computor part Jim had that he couldnt return,so that worked out good. I now have additional mud room storage that was needed for that hard working little space.I now need to find a chest that doubles for a coffee table and storage for Landons books/games we play. Its time to take another walk around,I'm sure the blueberries have some action going on by now.And I'm sure the Leeks are up much higher than they were 3 weeks ago.The big puddles of water have receded, and its almost time for the spring peepers to start in.
