happy birds.. We keep getting these squally little snowstorms or forecasts of..but its so wet and unseasonably warm, that its melting as it hits,or turns into March mud.We call it spring fertilizer I quess,at least thats what I've heard. The spring birds are chirping away too.The ping pong table is up and running. We took a day over at the daughters and JIm built the table frame,we played for about 4 hrs,had supper with them and came home around 9:30,to a slightly chilly house.Lit the pellet stove, but was so tired went to bed.Didnt bother to light the coal stove which was oout by then, but he's got it lit now.Another round of ping pong there and I'm bringing supper this time- the guys have to move a post thats in the way.Buying balls to beat the band, already killed 2 of them. What a hoot that game is.Landon started out not so good, but within two days, he now serves a mean serve, almost every time, and can whack the rebound ball most times at least twice. We can tell he's catching on quick and will be a champ in no time.He seems to be a natural when playing with any ball.We had quite a little gathering as Bills brother and nephew also came over and we had balls flying everywhere.Part of the cellar, we put up plastic so we dont have to chase them so far at least. A table for whomever wants to play cribbage or board games while others are playing ping pong.Missy and I got in a dual of the balls, which apparently the guys thought was halarious. At one point we had a Kodak moment when the ball landed on top of Landons head and it seemed like slow motion as it rolled completely down the middle of his head.Everybody was laughing so hard,as he had felt it,and had the most funny expression on his face.So of course now, he bugs his mother to play every chance he gets. After a fashion she may not like me too much for buying it. lol. Her and I have a day a week, with him in school, that we can play alone, and get better at it.Tomorrow I finally get to start the polyurethane on the walls, but will probaly have to wait till Landon leaves.Once I get 2 coats on, Jim can lay the floor tiles this week.

all wet up here.. Oh- I dont know why people do the silly things they do sometimes.Gone is the ceiling now. The doorway has plastic up,its just barely a bit chilly certainly not cold. All the ceiling insulation pulled out, ready to put in the new.Since the moisture culprit is now gone-the bathtub,it should no longer be a problem. It might have been ok if someone had put in a fan up there to get rid of the moisture over the years but they didnt. So next is ceiling insulation and new tiles. RAIN. Its what we've got now, all morning it kept alternating between sleet -rain and snow, now its driving rain. 3 inches of slush in the driveway. slush on everything now where it was all bare 2 days ago.I thought the crocus were going to pop it was getting so warm. Its now at 46*, they expect high winds, and power outages and flooding now.I'm gonna take a nap- it seems its the only decent thing to do at a time like this...they say next week, the sun will reappear, and then spring will probaly pop wide open...

road repair.. The ping pong table should be in next week. We're putting it in my daughters basement,as hers is large enough to make a game room for some fun.Other than that, our middle bay in the garage is also a nice spot, and wouldn't take too much to turn it into one,so that is a possibility later on.I brought my rug shampooer, we cleaned 3 rugs, washed some windows, and cleaned up her little porch first, before doing the cellar rug. She looks at me, and asks me where the hell did I get all my energy? I said I didn't know because I forget to take my vitamins alot,so I must remember to take them. Its not that I don't have aches and pains,or get tired, because I do.Usually I just rub the muscle stuff on, or take a nap,and I'm ok.I do know, that I eat less processed food than she does.So maybe that has something to do with it.So I have no idea, I just know I can see something, and if a spark develops, I'm off and flying.I read alot.Obviously alot on home improvement. She reads romance novels.Maybe thats got something to do with it.Well, either the interest is there or it isn't,but we both live in houses that need repairs.Jim says even if something didnt need a repair, I'd change the color of the paint anyways.lol,maybe.We have very little snow left, and I mean little, like some small area patches. All beds are uncovered now.The sun shines brightly, along with 40 &* temps during the day, but 20's at night.Totally unheard of in Maine in Feb.The roads are all getting that wavy roller coaster effect,as the frost comes out of the ground, or whats left in it.The flowers will soon be coming up with these temps. If we can make it into March with no snowstorms, its unlikely we'll get any more after that. Its time to get up those 2 gutters in anticipation of the rains.Jim gets to cut the Luan for the floor on Sat.,and then I can get in there and do my thing. On our coast, a little town called Rockland, developed a sink hole,25 feet wide, and 50 feet deep, closed road of course.Apparently,it was a tunnel connecting 2 limestone quarries that caved in...the pics were unbelievable, and its going to cost millions to fix it.I wonder where they'll find the money for that..

anticipation.. The wood floor was pulled up,then I started pulling nails and taking out the debris to the truck.Once that was all loaded up, Jim took it right to the dump.Making sure the subfloor was ok before we layed new plywood. He made his template, today he gets that down. While he is cutting that, I'll take Landon with me to Walmart. Jim needs a little time of no distractions, but I just know its going to cost me a new truck to keep him happy. He likes to be with his Pappa working on building stuff. The small area in his office is now cleared of his clothes, cleaned up and filing cabinet moved into place. His clothes are on a temporary rack in the spare bedroom upstairs till the closet is built. Now theres alot more room in his office, which I started cleaning again. The boys have also killed 2 of the darts so I have to buy some more darts.Either they are a bit rough on the toys,or they easily break when they hit the floor,so I'll put a rubber mat or carpet under the dart board, and maybe they wont break as many.I had to clear the bar off, as the register is right above it,showering it with debris and dust from all the pounding, and not putting it back till we're done, which means find a box to put the wine glasses in.As I sold and got rid of most of that furniture in the bay,now its a major cleaning out there and reshuffle stuff around, and we'll be able to get the small car in there.I think that'll take me a few days out there by the looks of it.My Nana is 92 and in the hospital in her final days,so a couple trips to see her, before they take her back to the boarding home. She is being made comfortable, and in no pain. The doctor was amazed we have 5 generations with pictures taken in the last 5 years.I thought it was a common thing, but I guess not.The snow is mostly gone from out back, the first in 6 yrs,am able to easily walk to the gardenshed,so Jim will pull away the ramp with the tractor,so we can open the doors to get in.At this time of year-there's always been 3 feet of snow out there. We're on an 8 day stretch of no snow in sight. So we're thinking the groundhog was medicated heavily this year.We know we'll probaly get another snowstorm, but it wont last as its been too warm.As the bathroom went from lets put in that closet, to basically stripping it down, the project is taking much longer but will carry us the rest of winter. My sister-in-law is ready to start her seeds.Way to early for me.I did that one year, the ground wasnt ready by the time the plants were,so it was a huge waste. And I need to clean up out there anyways.Another carport roof is going to be built onto the side anyways,so a whole lot of stuff will no longer be in my way at starting the seedlings/gardening time. That roof can be started mid April. 8 foot wide by 16 long gives me room for lawn mowers and tools. Since the outdoor sink is attached to the building, I can still be out there under cover during the rain, and play with the plantings, and not get soaked.I like that idea much better instead of being stuck in the house during the rainny spells.

making progress.. Right now its all about insulation. We got the knee wall crawl space section done in the bathroom. Its so much warmer now. I can chalk a little around the window but will have to wait mostly till Rick works on the outside..Instead of cutting & capping the pipes{which he attempted},I said build a 4 inch high box-cover them over, hinged door just in case we ever have to get to them.Well, they were not cutable anyways,so capped he did.Platform came out good, now ready for this next step. Rip up the old lineoleum today.Seal 2 of the pine walls. Cut a small section and investigate whats over the pine in the ceiling just to be sure to see if there's anything rotted.Ok, update-ceilings coming out, will replace insulation, but not pulling it out till Rick starts his part..Will put up regular ceiling tiles.Make a note to buy more insulation for the whole crawl space area this summer,,and up overhead can use some more.I think this little dormer is the last surprise for this house. Its a place we havent been able to investigate/get to for 6 yrs.Once its done we won't have to do it again. We've crawled all over this place everywhere else,so I don't think there are any more surprises. In the knee wall crawl space you can see vents from the inside, but on the outside someone covered them up with vinyl siding.Wrong! No way for that space to breathe when its 100 * outside, and heating up the upstairs in summer. What I want is a solar fan that turns on when needed, but I may have to settle for wiring in a regular electric gable fan.Well, the spot is finally cleared out in Jims office. Now I can wash it down, and we can move file cabinets over.A dump run today/empty coal into the bin.Seems that to-do list is getting longer by the minute.Stop at 4:00 to go have supper at Ma's and play cards.I did sell the king size bed sitting in the garage yesterday,so thats finally gone, and freed up some good space. Now to get rid of the couch and chair.I gave my friend a list of what I have,so maybe some of this stuff can move.I cant believe what the midwest is getting for snow-and I'm sure my sister is swearing up a storm. She moved away from here years ago because she was tired of the snow, she's in Pennyslvannia. My beds are uncovered, and we have a whole lot of sleeping grass showing for this time of the year. When the wind blows its raw out, other than that its pretty nice in the 20's when it doesn't.We feel we'll have an early spring this year-even though the groundhog went back in the hole. The coast guard cutter has been going up the river to cut up the ice dams,if they dont we'll have severe flooding. We dont have to worry where we live,as we're more than far enough away from the river area.Even though we lov the water, we would never live next to it,as mother nature is just too unpredictable for us.And speaking of mother nature,an unprecedented amount of couples splitting up this year, and all that I know and hearing about-its all the women that are bailing out.Is there something quirky going on in the stars this year?? Its really odd.
