Well, my adventures to the little antique shop paid off. I have a nice medium size hutch that I bought,my daughter has a nice small one, both of which we didn't have to do anything to,except dust them. That was the first thing to happen. Then thru more conversations with the owner the following week,I found she was willing to come look at what I had in the garage to get rid of, and would give me a store credit instead ,as she didn't do consignments. She ended up taking a pile of stuff,I got credit for that, and the much needed room. Then as I told her we also had a storage trailor to get rid of as its no longer needed, they were very interested in that. Not that great to look at-but good size and a good dry roof.We were asking $1000,but wanted it gone before winter,so came down in price, and ended up selling it to them for 1/2 & 1/2.I ended up with a store credit of $772,and $450 cash. She now has a re-finishing room she can do her pieces in,and everyone is quite happy. Now we dont have to worry about plowing around it etc.We followed them home with the trailor, where she showed me what she had,a 4 bay garage full of delights I could pick from-plus whats in the shop.It was like how a pig feels when he's rolling in the mud...I now have the 1st two braided rugs I've wanted for some time-a set of re-cycle bins & my computor desk to start with.
My first round of tomatoes is finishing ripening up in front of the plate glass window-I can freeze them up today-along with a batch of rubarb Ma gave me.Landon's been busy helping me to move all the wood with his John Deere, thats done for now,and fill his cart with weeds from any of the beds. Some flowers have gone by-so its time for fresh mums in one window box. This is the best toy we could have bought him,and now he doesnt have to sit on my lap as he's getting to big, and can help us with his own machine. We ordered another battery for it-but we're getting good run time out of the first one. He's got plenty of room to ride and explore & haul stuff around. We are putting up a fence section this morning on the far side-just in case he gets the notion to go near the road.Pappa is on vacation today,so he finally has a chance to ride with him on his own machine, and its going to be a sunny day-so he should be in his glory. He's made great leaps in his language skills, thank god for Sesame' Street. Now, if we can get the potty training down...Pappa says Landon's going to help him put up the fence-so if I'm not needed, then maybe I can get back to my strawberries. My blueberries are on the tail end of picking now- and I'm so happy they did so well this year-with enormous growth. My second small batch of tomatoes is ready to go in freezer now, more Rubarb went in,more furniture came in,a trip up north for one night. Its a bit of a trip-5 hrs.,but one more time-next time with the little camper.Needs new tires and working lights and we're good to go.Jims making good progress puttering on the carport gravel, and has started the trim for the soffitts on the living room, till the bees made him stop.It actually got chilly here during all the rain we had, but now its swung back around and hot & humid.Chimney man comes to inspect chimney for repairs this morning & I'll catch up on laundry.
I don't know how the heck they can be so far off on the weather with the aide of computors, and didn't they go to school for this stuff? All weeek they kept saying heavy downpours all-all Sat. nite into sunday all day.Well it rained for 5 minutes then stopped. Its not daylight yet so I cant see the sky.The comp says 100 % rain today-the roads are dry. go figure...
Well- we went & bought the new car-Toyota Yaris, its ordered,as they cant stock them on the lots, too many people buying them up.Could be 2 weeks-could be a month, but we ordered blue. As we test drove one that was a year old,but showroom shape, and the price for second hand wasn't far from the new price, for 3 more payments we figured the new one and full warranty was best, and get the color we like.Picked up the stove pad so he can build that today.Took back the ride-on toy for Landons birthday that was falling apart,so we can order a different one. He picked up the grass with the catcher with Pappa, after I cut a section. Played -taught soccer with him last nite and volley ball over the orchard fence,as its a low fence, lit the fire, and had S'mores till dark.I also caught 2 frogs and a toad for him,,and then we let them go in the gardens. He wouldnt hold them but talked to them.Everytime they jumped they made him nervous..lol. He is quite a character with all his facial expressions, and trying vocab.Wherever we take him out- the ladies fawn over him, and the guys shake his hand...lol/ I'm teaching him to wiggle his ears..and wink.He certainly pooped out Pappa last nite, as Pappa was snoring in 2 minutes flat-then Landon right behind him-and I had a chorus going. Jim got the first course of tarpaper up-Landon arrived,so he re tarped it over for the rain.Hope monday is just cloudy so he can finish it up.I had a lady stop at my garage sale last year many times -from California, and she's back here at her camp- and stopped in quick yesterday for a hi. Today she'll come back for a cup a of tea-we'll catch up a bit, and she can poke thru the mess out there again. Checked on the gardens,I will pick that cuke today for her, and I can at least give her a bunch of celery -a jar of jam & a bowl of my blueberries. The milkcan Roma's are finally starting to turn color but are very small. We walked out of Home Depot yesterday without buying a thing, thats a first, and I was tempted to buy the perennial special of white coneflower-but refrained.I have one now and thats blooming. The japs have made a return appearance-and I am so very disgusted with them buggers.I will have to spray again after the rain...
