well, I arrived home from moving my daughter to beautiful Victoria,BC on Vancouver island. What a wonderful city ! They have deer roming the streets and bunnies everywhere !! not that i would want them in my garden ! lol !she found a place with a Chinise herbalist ..lots growing in the yard and free range chickens too! :)
It froze hard while I was gone , so glad I picked all my tomatoes and peppersbefore I left,. ..still have slugs hanging around, so throwing out all my log stumps ( I use to put coffe cup on :) ) and anything they may have laid eggs in...not sure if they survive our harsh winter.....
the chickadees are back !! I put out a number of feeders with black sunfllower seeds, and they love it along with mr. squirrel :) . I'm thinking of growing a picking garden next year .. so many people have no garden space and would love to 'pick a bouquet' and possibly some herbs too. ..... will plan over the winter !!

well, got home from an amazing bike trip to Washington (love the Bellingham area) and B.C. , to a garden overtaken by SLUGS.... we don't have slugs in Saskatchewan.. I didn't think !! We have had a very, very wet summer, usually fairly dry.. I literally picked hundreds out of my garden :( ooou yuck !!,ven dreamt about them, they;re so gross :( ! . so I picked everything ...green tomatoes, carrots, potatoes, zucchini, beans, chard, peppers ..only thing they weren't into was the basil.. but picked the rest of that too and made more pesto . lost quite afew tomatoes , must be their favorite ... SO, does anyone have really good advice so I don't have then next year ? It gets down to -30--40 C here in winter ... the stores here didn't have anything I could use right now.. I will never go on holidays in mid August again !! at least all my flowers are still wonderfully blooming :) ! will post some pics soon of new ones I tried.
