Did you all have a happy and safe one? We did. It was a really nice day. Long, but nice. Went to mom's early to help get ready. The kids and hubby came after the bread in the machine was done. My dad's sister and her hubby, two kids and their families came. I hadn't seen them since my dad's funeral in March. It was nice to see them in happier times. Kids had fun playing. They have 3 boys, and then with our 3 boys, well, they all had a yelling good time! :) We laughed alot and played cards a lot and ate alot!
Hubby still doesn't have steady work. Frustrating, but the Lord is blessing us with encouragement in His Word and with peace and wisdom and strength. He is providing and this month will be amazing, for we have property taxes due the middle of December. (Stupid, isn't it! This is the 2nd year in a row, where the county has messed around and makes us taxpayers wait to pay until December, all at once!) Anyway, He is mightier and His riches are more than all the world. He is able and willing to help us and meet all our needs.
Mom and I went shopping today. First time to go on "Black Friday". We stayed away from the really busy stores and hit places like Tractor Supply, etc. I'm all done, except mom's, and that will be a shared present with my brother. She needs a new printer for her computer.
So sorry about the mix up on my last entry. Apparantly trying to let everyone know about my new blog led to my email address. Aaah! Will I ever learn all the ins and outs of computers and the web? Probably not. As I said in the last entry, the jewelry open house was a huge success. And I will have pictures posted on the other blog come sometime in January.
Today is the twins' 6th birthday. This past weekend we celebrated it in different ways. Saturday, we all went to the Dayton Air Force Museum. The kids all loved it. We have been there several times, #1 son twice, and this was the twins' first time. "WWWWWOOOOWWWWW!!!!" was the statement from #3!
Sunday after church we had a birthday party for all the extended family to come. Everyone had a great time. All the boys are playing with the toys today, which included Star Wars action figures and farm implements. Have you ever seen Chewbacca and R2-D2 plant and harvest and corral animals? :) Too cute!
Funny thing: Hubby went to get the kids after Sunday school and talked to the special guest speaker. After discovering that he was the father of the twins, she asked if we knew that they could burp on demand. Red-faced, hubby rolled his eyes and said that he was so proud. :) She graciously said not to feel bad, reminded her of her boys when they were that age. Aaaah, kids! They will keep you humble, won't they?
Today, I think we will play games (#2 son loves to play games), watch some of their favorite movies, and just have a generally fun day, without going anywhere or spending money.
Due to the comments on my last entry, yes, it's been weeks since I last saw hummers around here. As far as feeding them, if you see them, keep feeding them. They are geering up for a very long flight south, then. When it's time to go, they leave, whether there is stuff for them to eat or not. Last year, I had to empty out my feeders to put them away for the winter, and that was weeks after I had seen the last one. I hope that clears up the questions.
Have you heard that you should put a flower pot, upside down, halfway sticking above the dirt in your garden, then when you see bees going into the hole in the fall, then you put something on top of the hole, so they cannot come out. This forces them to make their winter home there in the ground. Then in the spring, you take the "block" off and this allows them to come out and they are there in your garden already. I heard this from a man who has bees, but knows that the bees, generally, are in need of some help to find homes. Something about all the cell phones in use are messing up their homing senses. Who would have thought???
Wasn't it a beautiful weekend??? We are soooo enjoying this wonderful weather the Lord has given to us! I've cleaned up the front yard, put away the hummingbird feeder, cleaned out the annuals that have died, picked up stuff that hubby said he would get rid of (but hasn't), and the whole place looks so much nicer. Kind of wish I did this a long time ago! :)
Saturday, we went to mom's to get some chairs. Hubby and I had an old lazyboy that we had rescued when the twins were born. It was mighty handy to have two rocking chairs then. :) But it recently started showing its age. It basically is falling apart. The glider wasn't much better off. So, hubby wanted to get rid of them if we could find some decent, cheap chairs somewhere. Well, mom had a couple of chairs that she didn't know what to do with (she's feeling like the living room is nothing but wall-to-wall furniture), so the chairs got a new life at our house. THey are swivel, rockers and they are small enough that they don't overwhelm our small living room. See, the Lord provided again, even in something so trivial as chairs!
Our niece's birthday party was yesterday afternoon. She's turned 5. That means the twins' birthday is coming up soon and they will be turning 6! AAAAAAA! 6! Hard to believe! It was a fun party. Lots of aunts and uncles and cousins there. And grandparents.
It was overall a wonderful weekend. Church services were good, fellowship was good, weather was good, boys were good, work was good, The Lord is indeed truly faithful and merciful!
