I am trying to decide whether to cover my daffodils with buckets or something. If we get the 4-6 inches of snow and the 30 mMPH winds expected tomrrow night.. I might be sorry I didnt cover them. That is a lot of weight for the poor tender blooms!
I was able to enjoy a few days working outside this week. We had one really nice day with temps in the 70s, but for the most part 60s and 50s..
We have had quite a few storms since last summer and had accumulated enough brush to make a huge brush pile. Since we cannot burn anything that big, I have spent several days cutting up all those branches and burning one by one in a burnbarrel. The pile when we started was as high as the house and about 15x15 feet or so.
I have lots still left to do but I did make a dent!! Those dumb ice storms have taken several trees and broken lots of branches:( it is too costly to have a tree service come in to do the work, but may have to if we cannot find someone to take some of the largest broken limbs off the trees.

Clean up in the fall is easier than spring. I have been working on a flower bed this afternoon and the ground is just way to soft to do what really needs to be done. I found some bulbs trying to come up under some leaves that were all anemic and pitiful looking!
For the most part it goes up and down this time of year. We had a few really nice days last weekend..but when the temps get up a bit, it seems like we get storms. They are cleaning up from the tornado near Springfield now. Loss of homes.. 7... 30 were damaged. A few injuries and no deaths so that is a blessing. I think two people were hospitalized.
My cousin said he saw it and did not even have time to dial his wife on speed dial before it hit. They lost a buffalo and his friend lost his two race horses. The tornado missed his house.
That was one fast moving storm. It came thru my way first, but the tornado had not formed yet. We got 3 tenths of an inch of rain in less than 5 minutes.
The temps then dropped down into the teens at night and highs in the 20s in the daytime. Now for the next few days ti looks like we have 52 for a high. I had one narcissus bloom this week!
I had one little purple crocus bloom today! Yipee Spring really is coming. We had some sever weather around us today, a town about 1/2 hour away had tornado damage. :(
