Getting ready for the holdiays

Well while we had one warmer day this past week, I started working on my outdoor lighting. I am nto going to do as much as I usually do, but more than last year. My hubby just cannot get up on the roof anymore to do all the outlne of the house, so all decorating will be done at ground level.

We put on a new front entrance this fall.. kind of a little deck I supposed you could call it. So I Wrapped the railings with garland and white lights and added large red ornaments and red bows, I plan to get out to the back shed sometime this next week and dig out the nativity and other things. I love decorating for the holdiays and last year I did not do much and I missed it! What is everyone else doing for decoating for the holidays?

Update on Mary and Duke

I am sorry to say that Duke passed away from all of his injuries. He was 84 years old. His 77 year old wife is stable and was able to give a discription of the young men.  I certainly pray that they are caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. and even that will be too good for them. Please continue to pray for the whole family who are all really having a hard time with this horrible tragedy.

The last mowing of the season!

Yipee!! No more mowing the yard and leaves for the rest of 2008. I spent all afternoon, mowing and raking and getting the worst of it all done before colder weather sets in. Should be okay for a few months. We filled up our gas cans at $1.99 a gallon.. down from when we filled them up a few weeks ago at $4.29! We always keep a bit of gas on hand in case of power outages.

I put as many leaves as I could on the north fence flower bed.. that is the one that gives me fits with weeds. Remind me next year to just go ahead and put weed and feed on that bed. I simply cannot get all the weeding done anymore and I think I will have to resort to a little chemical help. Not on veggies tho.. never do that in the veggie garden.

Happy fall ya'll. Thanksgiving is just aoround the corner.. are ya ready?
