Central Illinois still has had no rain and things are really showing signs of stress, even some weeds are getting wilty!! My rudbekia is slowing down and so are the daylily blooms, but I am all excited about my first water lily blooms!! They are a pale yellow white color and really look so pretty. We have had the water lily for about 3 summers now, we winter it over in a small water feature about 90 gallons.
I really need to find things that will bloom early August and into Sep.. any suggestions would be welcome!

Well I am learning to do lots of things one handed, as that seems to be what I have to do for now. Arm is healing, but having residual nerve pain and stress from the nerve block.. jkust have to wait it out I guess.
We need rain bad!! Cracks in the ground 1- 1 1/2 inches.. trying to water the garden best we can,. but shoot, Mother Nature does a much better job,! Rains in the area went all around us.. some people got almost2 inches last week .. we got nada :(
Dayllies and Rudbekia are still going strong, as is the knockout roses, dahlia, liatris, canna , hibiscus and coneflowers etc... Annuals are doing fairly well, but I concentrate on my perennials as we have so much invested in them over the years. Weeding as well as typing one handed has been a challenge, but I am getting by. Ticks seem to be a problem in the area as well as ants, I cannot stand either one LOL..

Just because I have a broken bone/surgery does not mean the weeds stop growing! I have been trying to pull weeds with one hand, but it sure wears you out! Typing is not the easiest eitherll LOL And it really is hard to plant new plants found in the garden bargain bin!
I am really enjoying my oriental lillies.. they are fabulous !! Makes the whole yard smell wonderfull, every garden needs at least one!Right now I have annuals, rudbekia, coneflowers, tons of day lillies, verbena, canna, etc all blooming.. love color in the landscape.
Hope every one has a great Fourth of July! Support our troops and pray for their safe return!
