my neighbor was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Doc gave him 12-18 months at best. Today, he is laughing and talking-swims in his pool, is back to normal size and the tumor is not growing. His last scan 2 months ago showed no growth, and looks as good as it can be! He said if/when it starts to grow again he will not take chemo anymore. It made him too sick, and at this point, he says he wants quality, not quantity. He has had no problems at all, and is enjoying his life. God is good.
Now, as far as me... I have a little cloud following me around. My lawnmower deck collapsed, so now I need a new mower, trying to sell my car...again. The shop still is barely making it, though we are in better shape than last year at this time. I hurt my left arm when I pitched a fit about my mower, and last night I slipped and fell and hurt my right arm. So, my hip still hurts, but the left arm trumps it, and now the right arm trumps em all! (lol) Ibuprofen overload needed!
I have been pulling up zinnias, there are lots of little volunteers coming up, and have prepared my garden to plant some Asparagus beans. Hope to get that done this evening-when it's not 101 degrees! Not much going on gardening wise-it's too hot and everything looks bad.
Here is a photo just because you need to see one! This is behind our Civic Center-this sculpture is of 3 geese taking off and is pretty awesome. You can see the lake in the background. A nice, peacefull Sunday morning
And an old ugly Muscovey wandering around eating bugs!
That dang spammer is back in all the forums and even posting in the blogs-I don't understand why this is such a problem here, but not on other sites. This site seems to be poorly managed!
THREE (3) inches yesterday!!!! We soooo needed it! Sad thing is, yesterday morning for an hour, I watered everything...then it rains! Everything is so perky this morning. The ground should be good to work. I had to kill fire ants out of the bed I want to plant my beans in, anyway, so the good rain has cleaned that area of the poison now, so I'm good to go!
It's been so hot and dry, I'm just barely keeping things alive. Nothing in the vegetable garden except for eggplant and 1 bell pepper bush. I almost lost my Night Blooming Cereus this past winter, but this morning, I was graced with a bloom!
It's the only one, smaller than usual, and I see no other buds, yet. But it's still growing, and I have started 2 more plants.
Nothing else to brag about, now. In a couple of weeks, the Angel Trumpet should start to go crazy, and that's a beautiful sight and smells so good!
Make it a good day-cause "...a day of worry is more exhausting that a week of work"
Peeps, it is HOT! Heat indexes in the 100-105 mark. Dang tiny gnats and hungry mosquitoes! Sweat, sweat, sweat!
My fly-boy has come and gone. He didn't get to go fishing (rained on those days it was planned!), the boat was out of order for most of the week, and we didn't get any crabs. He did get to sleep! And party until 2-3 almost every night! And he did eat fish and shrimp most of the week, and swim in the river.
The garden is still making eggplant and peppers, both hot & mild. Zinnias are still blooming, though I have pulled many up. Itty Bitty KItty is learning to climb trees and she climbs the one in the flower bed and falls out of it, breaking the flowers. I don't care-zinnias grow everywhere! She likes to climb the oblesik (?sp?) that the morning glories are on:
Don't guess they'll last too long either-oh well, they're full of bugs, too.
The garden is still making hot peppers & eggplant-eggplant parmesean is great!
I have datura's blooming here and there in the flower beds:
Waiting on the purple to bloom again. It's half as tall as this one, and this one isn't very tall!
Not too much else in my world-Have a good afternoon!
