Peanut hates it when I leave in the morning. This was supposed to be at the end of the post, but somehow I got it here!It is so very dry here-has been for months now-and so dang hot everything just kind of withered. The zinnias are suffering, and the Mexican Sunflower fell over and most of it's stems broke-the bees are still attacking it, though, so I'll leave it be until all blooms are gone. The morning glory mixture I planted is finally producing several blooms
For some reason they show more blue than purple-the dark ones are a deep, rich purple.
The vincas don't mind the hot, dry weather-Funny, I never actually plant these-they just reseed and come up wherever every year!
The cockscomb don't mind the heat either, but the worms sure love their foilage! I don't plant them, either, they come up whereever they want to, also!
As the heat winds down some (high today to ONLY be 93), a few flowering plants have perked up. The dwarf Katie Ruellia is blooming up a storm, the zinnias are still tantalizing the bees and butterflies. The Mexican Sunflower has reached 8 ft tall and fell over, broken branches, but still blooming! The Morning Glory tree has flopped over also, it is so top heavy with blooms-the bees live in it. My hibiscus is FINALLY blooming, and the daturas have started. Here's the purple one:
It was a volunteer-only one this year! I still have lots of seeds from past years, and I am letting a few spent blooms go to seed, again. The Yellow one, which was a total surprise, is putting out lots of blooms! I have to water it daily, and I am letting some of it's blooms go to seed, also.
You can see part of my Angel Trumpet in the background. The summer really punished it this year, and I don't think it will have a very pretty show. It blooms every now and then, but looks so Bad! I am so excited that my Hummingbird Plant aka Jammie-Mouth is blooming! It is right next to the purple datura, and an orange cosmos, so it is not as prolific as it could be-but it is full of buds!
I will try to post some of the others later. My home computer has finally crashed for good. I can't afford to have it fixed or to buy another one. I am still working, but just barely. Not sure what the company is going to do. I have dropped my internet at home, and have had my home phone cancelled. Since I was 18 years old, I have never wondered what was I going to do next. I am in total limbo-I have NO idea! (enough drama!)
Will be planting some more of my winter garden this week. I have lettuce seed planted, but we are still have 90+ degree days and 70 degree nights, so I am hesitant to plant too many things. Besides, because I don't know what is going to happen to me economically, I feel like you do when you grocery shop with an upset stomach-yuk-don't want any of that! Well, I do have lots of stuff to sell, so I will be ok!
