Last night my little male cat was killed on the road in front of my house. Luckily, a neighbor leaving to go to the store saw him and stopped and told me, so I was able to get him off the road before he got mashed. This makes 4 pets I have lost in 1 year and 1 month. I don't want any more
It's in full bloom! It will stay this way until we have a hard rain, which is not probable for a while! Hope you like it!
Different angle, different time of day. The tree is leaning badly, which I will correct after it is through blooming. Ike pushed it over again. Rita had pushed it over 3 years ago
This was sent to me in a lengthy e-mail, and I felt it needed to be shared-Especially for Motherbored! I have condensed it as it was a little long.
A vet was called to a family's home because their beloved 10 year old dog was gravely ill. The dog was found to be dying of cancer, and it was decided that the dog be put to sleep at home. The parents decided that their 6 year old son should watch the procedure and learn from the experience.
The little boy was very calm, petting his old dog for the last time. Within a few minutes the old dog slipped away peacefully. The vet wondered if he understood what was happening. The boy seemed to accept the dog's death without difficulty or confusion. The adults pondered aloud about the fact that animals' lives are shorter than humans.
The little boy, who had been listening quietly piped up, "I know why". Everyone looked at him. What he said stunned them all. So simply said "People are born so they can learn how to live a good life, loving everybody all the time and being nice, right? Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long."
Yesterday evening I started surveying what needs to be repotted, and what can stay outside, and what needs to go in the ground and I SHOULD HAVE A GARAGE SALE cause I have too much "stuff" and too many "plants". And I dearly love to "propagate". My foxtail fern has gotten much larger, and I have to figure out where to put it. It definitely does not like being inside!
There is a boston fern behind it that is almost as big! I need a bigger house! No, just a big SUNROOM! I'd love that!
Besides these, I have two large Hawaiin Ti's, a petticoat fern (almost as big), way too many bromeliads, those long, lanky, sprawly night blooming cereus and on and on! Whatever I bring in the house will become a playground for my rambuncious cats. Anyway-I'm working on it! Check my "garden stuff" pics under garden decor! We need more pics!

I tried for almost an hour yesterday trying to get a picture of the hummingbird that has been busy on this vine and my bottle brush-but HE'S TOO DANG FAST!! Anyway, here's the vine-INVASIVE and birds scatter the seeds everywhere! It'll come up in your kid's ears if they don't wash often enough!! (lol)
Hey Everyone! Friday nite we went to the local high school football game. Yep, WHS wallked all over em-32 to 7. First touchdown was made on the first play of the game! Westlake High School is undefeated so far, and they went all the way to the Dome last year for state. We lost by ONE point! The boys beat themselves, though. We had 2 touchdowns and 2 extra points recalled because of penalties!! Hopefully, we are on our way to the Dome again!
I've been cleaning up a little, and planning on putting in a couple of small trees. All of the okra and bell peppers are gone now. But I do have some broccoli and radish coming along nicely!
The dead leaves are from my cannas-I keep chopping on them, too! In a day or so I will have a FABULOUS picture of my Cassia tree, which is beginning to bloom.

I tried several times last nite and again this morning, but I can't get my pic here (sometimes I can, and sometimes I cant!!)
ANYWAY! My Angel trumpet is in full glory and I have pics in my photos under "garden stuff" I am changing that up a bit, cause the garden has changed. It is an ongoing process. I did get it posted in "What's in Bloom", too, along with a couple of other pics. The A T is soooo pretty, it takes my breath away. The smell at sundown permeats the whole backyard, and was still lingering this morning. I'm going to get a pink one and plant in my front yard. This is too gorgeous!
I have most of my little garden critters and stuff cleaned up and painted. I will slowly be adding pics of those.
Got to work today!! Lots to do-Everyone have a Great Day!! (85 today-66 tonite)!
I can't believe this. I planted my radish, from seed, on Sunday. Today is Wednesday and they are sprouted!!! Guess they were waiting on me! We had a little (very little) rain yesterday when the cool front came through (real cool-high today only 84!) I guess that spurred 'em on!.
I believe I'll be pulling up the okra and bell pepper this weekend. They're still producing, but, I'm tired of messing with them. (I heard you guys from the North collectively gasp!! OH No!) Believe it or not, you can get tired of an always producing garden! Bugs, and watering, and picking and blanching and canning! If I was retired, maybe. IF I HAVE ANY RETIREMENT LEFT!!!! which is kind of puny anyway, but Hey! It's mine!! Or was. Still is, I hope.
I do have some fall & winter flowers to plant. I've already planted snapdragons, and have some petunias and some pansies to put in. I'll sprinkle a few more radish in with the flowers. This weekend, I'll start preparing a couple of places where I'm going to plant some small trees I have. A crabapple, a mulberry and another crepe myrtle. I just love crepe myrtle trees. Their blooms always remind me of popsicles! I have a small azalea I need to move, AND, I'll chop some more on that nasty cactus!!. The root is as big around as my wrist!
And I HATE winter. And I live where winter is in spurts of 40-50 degree weather and few 30-40 degree nights for 2 months out of the year. Anyway, I hate the rain, and the cold wind and the short days! Humph!
Found out this weekend that my son will be transferred to SOMEWHERE in Montana for 3 years. MONTANA!! Real winters!! This boy is 24 years old and it snowed here when he was 4! He did see a little, tiny bit of snow when he was in college in Ruston. Guess he'll see snow now!! Turning loose a coonass in wide open Montana!! Oh, the gumbos he will cook!
Yesterday I took a bunch of my little garden statues and 'critters', and cleaned them and painted them. I cleaned up a fairy, my little girl with her butterfly, old St. Frank (he really needed a bath bad!), one of my garden cats, my garden bug (Motley is scard to death of my BIG bug!), my 'drunk' Blue Jay, and I repotted a couple of plants. There are still a few statues and figurines to clean up. I'll post pics when everybody is back in place! I still have a couple of cats to clean, a sunflower, a garden "sun", Maw-Maw's chicken, and 2 garden signs.
The broccoli and the radish are planted (I had help-lots of paw prints in the garden), and I am deciding on where to plant a couple of small trees. My patio needs more shade-but I sure like the flower beds. Guess they'll have to be moved!
